I am currently frustrated because I'm trying to find a certain gift for my husband and everywhere I look it's either not what I want, too expensive, or can't be shipped to Canada without paying massive duties. Stupid UPS. So we'll see what happens.
I have a lot of other stuff done. Made some more cookies yesterday which I'm going to give out to people who I want to gift to but can't afford to. I hope everyone likes the homemade gifts I did this year. I've successfully NOT purchased a single thing from a shopping mall. Woo me! I can't stand shopping malls at this time of year. Everyone is grouchy, pushing, shoving, you can't find parking, etc. Don't get me started on that stuff!
I've been getting some more Christmas cards too - that always makes me feel good. I don't know why my mother insists on sending me a card every year since we barely live 20 mins away from one another. It's a mom thing I guess.
I've wrapped presents already too - it still seems early but also late at the same time. Does that sound possible? I don't even know. I'm hosting a "drop-in" on Sunday for anyone I know who wants to come by for hot chocolate or tea or coffee or booze or whatever. I think I'm going to buy a couple of bottles of wine just for the occasion. I don't tend to keep a lot of booze in the house - which makes it hard to offer anyone "grownup" drinks.
Solo was trying to help me wrap gifts by taking the plastic wrap and putting it under the sofa. Last night we lifted out the pull-out bed and discovered her new hiding place for food. We should have photographed it - it was hilarious. As long as she's not doing her "business" outside the cage, she can put pieces of dried carrots wherever she likes. I wanted to make sure she wasn't chewing under there either - and it doesn't look like she was doing anything more than creating her own pantry.
This was from our most recent trip to Windsor - strictly for bar hopping. If the dollar gets more valuable for us Canucks, I wouldn't mind doing a shopping trip in January. We'll see how the month plays out. I just got a raise from work (yay! another .47 / hr) which was a surprise as I just started there less than 4 months ago. I also get a wee bit of a cash thing - it's literally not much, but we weren't supposed to get anything! Any of it is nice. Maybe I can put it towards shopping or something.
I wish I could just do online shopping for everything. I also wish I lived in Toronto at this time as they have tons of cool boutiques that I could "maybe" afford to shop at.
Perhaps I'll get a chance to do that this weekend .. if not.. well .. I don't know. LOL! I still have to do my Christmas cards .. I have been feeling apathetic about them recently, but hopefully I'll get around to them really shortly. Otherwise it will be too late!
Off to work .. 8-12am.. short but sweet shift .. usually not too busy at that time and they just hired another new group .. definitely interesting!
