Courtney isn't feeling her finest, so she's missing breakfast. Now I'm that girl who eats alone, but I don't mind. I feel extra foreign! The breakfast man asked me where I was from, and I said Chicago but I wanted to act like I didn't understand. And I'm sitting here typing away... but in what language?! Ah!!
We're rooming with a couple Brazilians. Boy and girl, but they're not a couple. They're here on a work program, apparently. And they're super cool. I can understand a good bit of what they say because Portuguese is so similar to Spanish. And we share music and laugh late at night. So fun!
Yesterday Courtney and I strapped on our tourist boots and hit Times Square for crazy picture fun. We had a blast. The weather here is a fine 50-something! I know how sad that sounds, but I left below freezing snow storms, and I'm totally feeling this.
Today is the Cooper-Hewitt, a design museum of the Smithsonian set. I'm pumped! Then lunch with my "uncle" (mom's cousin) and his family. Yesterday he picked us up from the airport, took us to a GREAT lunch, then dropped us off at our hostel, an hour from the airport. THEN HE GAVE ME EIGHTY DOLLARS. I tried to run from him and it work for a little while, but he caught me between a car and a tree and stuffed it in my pocket. He's too generous! But I'm stoked, because maybe Court and I can catch a Broadway thing. We're trying not to spend too much, and so far it hasn't worked out as well as we'd hoped.
Anyway. I should eat my bagel and wake Court up. Museum opens at noon and I'm not wasting any time.
