The Christmas Tree That Grew(and grew, and grew, and grew)

Dec 15, 2009 22:52

Part One

They reached Spencer’s apartment and he unlocked the door, letting them in.

Brendon gasped as he saw the tree, and Spencer smiled proudly. He had to admit he had done a pretty good job with the tree, Especially since he had never decorated one by himself before.

“Wow, it is really tall, almost touching your ceiling. It wasn’t this big when you got it?”
Spencer shook his head. “Nope. I actually had to add a few more Christmas decorations because the growth had spread them out a bit.”

“You did a good job, it looks really nice. I’m jealous.” Brendon smiled at Spencer again. He realized they were still holding hands and suddenly felt awkward.

“If you want,” he began as he dropped Brendon’s hand, “you could get one and I could help you decorate it. You still have time.” There was still a week left until Christmas. All the really good trees would probably be taken already, but that didn’t matter.

A sad look passed across Brendon’s face. “I’m not really celebrating Christmas this year,” he mumbled quietly.

Spencer frowned and touched Brendon’s shoulder, leading him to the couch. “Do you want to tell me why?”

“Yeah, I…” Brendon trailed off, took a deep breath, and started over. “I just came out to my parents this year, and they didn’t really take it so well. That’s why I moved out. This is the first Christmas I’ve ever had where I didn’t have a family to go home to.”

Spencer felt his heat clench, and he reached out and grabbed Brendon’s hand again, this time rubbing his thumb over the knuckles soothingly. “I’m sorry for bringing it up.”

Brendon shook his head and gave him a small smile. “It’s alright. I don’t mind people knowing, it’s just hard to talk about. Christmas is my favorite holiday, but I just couldn’t handle putting up decorations and a tree by myself, you know?”

Spencer nodded in agreement. Spencer was so thankful his own parents were supportive of his sexuality, since he knew many people did not get as lucky.

“That’s actually why Jon isn’t using his decorations. He was adamant about not letting me miss out on those things alone. His parents are taking a trip this year during this time, so he’s not going to see them either. I told him he didn’t have to, but Jon’s nice like that, and he’s doing it anyway.”

“Sorry I mentioned my tree.”

No, no! It’s really cool. I wish I could notice that it grew. This is just like in that story, The Christmas Tree That Grew. I loved that story as a kid.”

Spencer laughed, because yeah, that had crossed his mind a few times. “Maybe I should drill a hole in your floor so I can give the tree more room to grow.’

Brendon’s eyes lit up, and Spencer realized he took the joke a little too seriously. “You totally should! That would be so amazing. You have a MAGIC tree Spence, you can’t stifle it.”

Spencer laughed at how eager he sounded to allow someone to drill a hole through his floor. “Do you really want to?”

Yes! Spencer, it’s MAGIC. You don’t get to witness magic every day. You’ve been lucky enough to get this tree, you have to let it serve it’s purpose. And that means drilling a hole through my floor to let it keep growing.” Brendon said in a matter of fact way, as though he discussed magic Christmas trees all the time.

“If you really want to, go right ahead. I don’t mind sharing my tree.”

“Woo!” Brendon said, punching one hand in the air. “Now, we can’t waste a perfectly good high and not eat any food. What do you have?” Brendon asked, dragging Spencer to the kitchen.

Brendon had been completely serious, so they made plans to drill the hole. Jon was the only one with any tool experience, so they recruited him to help them out and tell them what supplies they needed. They also decided they might need permission from Pete, but he had agreed immediately as long as he got to go to their apartments whenever he wanted and see the tree.

After a combined effort from Jon, Spencer, and Brendon, with Pete being useless and pretty much always in the way, they finally had a hole big enough to let the tree through. Right now there was only a little tip peaking through, so Brendon wouldn’t really get to enjoy the tree yet.
Brendon insisted on singing to the tree every day, but Spencer didn’t mind because he could hear Brendon’s voice much easier in his apartment now thanks to the hole in his ceiling. He often would turn the T.V down when Brendon started singing because his voice was much more enjoyable than whatever shitty reality show would be on. Brendon wanted to sing to the tree because he believed it would make it grow faster. He wanted Jon to have a tree too, even though every time he mentioned it Jon would fake a frown and say that no one was putting holes in his floor.

The scary part was that it was working.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

Spencer turned away from feeding his ferret when he was struck with a case of déjà vu. There was only one person in the building that refused to just use doorbells, and that person was Brendon. Pete used doorbells, but not in a civilized way. He would press the doorbell over and over until someone came and opened the door for him.

Spencer opened his door, and was immediately seized by Brendon.

“Spencer! You have to see this, now! I told you it would work, music makes everything grow faster!” Brendon was chattering excitedly as he pulled Spencer up the stairs, stopping outside his own apartment.

“Look, look look,” Brendon said while he opened the door and led Spencer inside.

Spencer hadn’t been there in a few days, and was shocked to see how tall the tree had gotten. It was now touching the top of Brendon’s roof, the star bent at an awkward angle for it to fit.

“Wow.” That was all Spencer had been able to say. It was such a strange sight, seeing the tree that he knew started all the way down from his floor, touching the top of Brendon’s ceiling.

“It’s amazing right?” Brendon spoke up from beside Spencer. “This whole thing is so surreal, knowing we’re part of something magic. Not corny the world is such a good place magic either, but real law defying magic. There is no way this tree should be doing this but, it IS.”

Spencer looked at Brendon and saw the expression of awe on his face. He looked exactly how Spencer felt. NO ONE, not even the most imaginative, creative of people ever really expects something like this. The tree wasn’t doing anything amazing, but just the fact that it was something completely impossible, something that could NEVER be done, made it seem like they were in the possession of a cart wheeling pig. Spencer thought that this was probably what the people in Charlotte’s Web felt like when they thought Wilbur could weave messages into webs.

Spencer grabbed Brendon’s hand, breaking him out of his gaze. They hadn’t admitted they like each other yet, but the two had been spending a lot of time together. They would go get something to eat, or just hang over at each other’s apartments. None of them had tried to take it further, scared of making the next move. They held hand occasionally, but that was it. Spencer really enjoyed Brendon’s company, and as much as he liked Brendon, he didn’t want to risk giving that up.

“Come on, we need to go coerce Jon,” Spencer said, giving Brendon a playful shove in the direction of the door.

Spencer flipped opened the locks on his door, knowing he would see Ryan on the other side. He had called Spencer’s phone then hung up after the first ring, which was the signal for “let me in.”

“I come bearing gifts to get you into the Christmas mood.” Ryan gave Spencer what he thought was suppose to be a cheerful grin, but came out more like a grimace. He took in Ryan’s carefully coordinated red and white striped outfit, and topped with an elf hat. He looked so unlike Ryan that Spencer couldn’t help but laugh.

“Do not mock me, I have candy canes and I will not refrain from using them as weapons.” Ryan looked much more like himself as he sent Spencer a glare.

Spencer was finding this too fun, and he just couldn’t resist making fun of him some more. “Let me guess,” Spencer started, smirk growing on his face, “Christmas is Jon’s favorite holiday?”

“Shut up,” Ryan growled as he pushed his way inside. True to his word, he did actually have candy canes and he dropped the box of them onto the couch.

“As much as I appreciate being your friend and all, I don’t need to know that you plan on using candy canes to seduce Jon.”

Ryan threw a pillow at him as Spencer sat on the couch. “I am not using candy canes to seduce Jon, I was just in the mood for them. I am planning on making Christmas cookies though, but since we both know that I cannot be left alone with a stove for more than five minutes, you need to help me.”

Spencer kept a straight face for all of a second before he was laughing again. “You’re going to bake Jon COOKIES? Really Ryan, can you get any more corny?”

Ryan glared at him again, eyes narrowing evilly. “If you don’t stop laughing and help me, I’m going to tell Brendon about that time with the shampoo bottle-”

“OKAY!” Spencer shouted, slapping a hand over Ryan’s house and looking around like he was expecting Brendon to be listening in. “I’ll help you, jeesh. Wouldn’t Pete be better for helping with the whole wooing thing though?”

Since Ryan spent so much time at Spencer’s apartment, he quickly became good friend’s with Pete, not as good friends as he was with Jon though. Even though if Ryan was friend’s with Pete the way he was friend’s with Jon, well, let’s just say Spencer would be short a best friend and very very afraid of a certain Patrick Stump.

“Pete has his own grand gesture to worry about.” Ryan waved a hand dismissively. “He’s going to ask Pete to marry him.”

Spencer was about to respond, when they heard a rustling noise from behind them, like the sounds of leaves rustling, and the sound of glass shattering on the floor. They turned toward the tree and saw one of the ornaments smashed on the ground.

“Um, I swear that wasn’t my fault this time,” Ryan said, looking at the tree in a frightened way. Ryan knew about how the tree was growing, and got to see it in Jon apartment all the time. It was now about half way to Jon’s ceiling, and still seemed to grow everyday.

“Obviously it wasn’t your fault, unless you went out and got yourself covered in mutant slime and gained a superpower,” Spencer bit back and got up to get a broom.

He cleaned up the pieces of glass, Ryan watching from the couch being useless like usual. After he threw the shards away, he went to Ryan and hit him on the back of the head.

“Ow! What the hell?”

“Give me one of those candy canes and get up, I’m not taking up forever making these stupid cookies.”

Spencer let their laughter die out and fall into a comfortable silence. He and Brendon were in Starbucks, talking and taking an obnoxious amount of time to finish their drinks. Ryan was at Jon’s place, and Brendon had shown up at Spencer’s apartment with a horrified expression, saying he could hear the moaning coming from Jon’s place. Spencer decided he would get out of their just in case they got loud enough for him to hear in his own apartment. He did not need to know if Ryan was a screamer or not….really.

Spencer fiddled with his cup, and took a few minutes to calm his nerves. He wanted to ask Brendon something he had been thinking about for a few days.

“Bren?”

“Hm?” He looked up from his cup and gave Spencer his attention.

“Would you want to spend Christmas with me? I’m going to my family’s place for lunch and dinner, and you’re more than welcome. My mom always cooks too much food and loves having people over, so you won’t be intruding or anything. I mean, if you don’t want to be around a family or whatever, I can just go over there for lunch, and then come back here, and we could spend the rest of the day together.” Spencer finished speaking and dropped his gaze. He didn’t know if Brendon would be mad at him for asking, thinking he was doing it out of pity. He looked up when he felt Brendon’s hand close over his.

“I’d like that,” Brendon told him quietly, looking at him with reassuring brown eyes.
“Yeah?” Spencer asked, just to be sure.

“Yeah.”

Spencer laughed as he watched Pete pace the stairs between Spencer’s floor and Brendon’s nervously. That day while Patrick was out, they had drilled a hole in Pete’s floor also and now Pete was freaking out because he was afraid Patrick was going to murder him.

“Pete, calm down. He loves you, he won’t kill you. Probably just yell at you and deprive you of sex.”

Pete stopped pacing and glared at Spencer. “Do NOT joke about things like that.”

Spencer laughed as Pete turned around and went back to his pacing. Right then, Patrick walked into the apartment, and Pete froze and then gave him his big grin, yelling “Hey ‘Trick!”

Patrick looked at Spencer leaning against the door and back at Pete suspiciously. “Yup, that’s my cue to leave,” Spencer said, turning around and opening his own door. The last thing he heard was Patrick’s exasperated, “Pete, what did you do NOW?”

On Christmas Eve day, Ryan showed up at Spencer’s in a rare good mood, and also incredibly nervous.

“Do you think he’ll like it?” Ryan asked, looking down at the gift in his hands.

“It’ll be fine Ryan, stop being such a drama queen. You’ll give Jon the gift, he’ll be incredibly happy, and you guys will have hot Christmas morning sex.”

“I’m not a drama queen,” Ryan said, but it lack any real feeling.

Spencer sighed. He was surprised he hasn’t been driven to being a alcoholic from putting up with Ryan for the past 21 years of his life. “It’s for his CAMERA Ryan. Jon LOVES his camera. Now stop freaking out and go.” Spencer grabbed Ryan’s shoulder and manhandled him out of the door.

“Wait, Jon wanted me to give this to you.” Ryan pulled out mistletoe from his hoodie pocket that was attached to a piece of tape. He reached up and stuck it to Spencer’s door frame. “For good luck. Now you have an excuse to kiss Brendon,” Ryan said, winking at him.

“I hope Jon hates your gift,” Spencer said codly.

Ryan glared at him. “I was just trying to help, you don’t have to be a bitch.” He turned on his heel(oh so dramatically) and started up the stairs.

Spencer looked up and stared at the piece of mistletoe. It was lopsided and the piece of tape made it look extremely tacky. Spencer snorted and shut the door.

Later that day, Spencer and Brendon went out to a coffee shop they really liked. Brendon insisted he didn’t want to do anything special, and besides a lot of restaurants would be packed anyway, so they decided on there. Spencer insisted on buying Brendon’s coffee, along with a few pastries. Spencer definitely was not acting like it was a date.
They didn’t stall while in the coffee shop this time, since they had a selection of movies picked out that they were going to watch. They were doing this in Spencer’s apartment, just in case Jon and Ryan decided to get loud again.
On the way back from the coffee place, they got into a juvenile snowball fight, stuffing snow in between their necks and their jackets, and lobbing snowballs at each other. By the time they reached the building, they were cold and uncomfortable and wet, Brendon more so from falling(Spencer did not push him!) in a large pile of snow during their fight. They entered the building laughing, and Spencer’s numb hands used his keys to unlock his door. They both tried to get into the door at the same time, and laughed as they bumped shoulders in the doorway. They may or may not have smoked on the way back from the coffee shop, which made them find it funnier than it really was. Spencer leaned sideways against the door jam to give Brendon space to walk through, but stopped him when he saw all the snow clingy to him.

“Wait a minute.” Brendon stopped and Spencer reached out his hand, gently dusting the snow off of his cheeks and eyelashes.

When Spencer’s movement stopped, Brendon opened his eyes again and gave him and cheeky smile. “Thanks mom,” he said sarcastically. “Want to pick my nose for me too?” Brendon leaned his head back to jokingly show Spencer the inside of his nostrils, and they started laughing again.

Spencer was still giggling when he heard Brendon let out a quiet “Oh.”

“What is it?” Spencer asked, still laughing. He trailed off and when he followed Brendon’s gaze upward, met with the sight of the mistletoe Ryan had tacked their earlier. “Oh.”
Blue eyes met brown ones as they dropped their heads, and Brendon looked away and blushed. “Um, I’m just gonna…”he trailed off and his body twitched like he was going to move, but Spencer quickly placed a hand on his face. Brendon’s gaze snapped back to his, and Spencer watching as he chewed on his bottom lip uncertainly.
Spencer stared at the action for a little, watching the red slightly chapped flesh. He realized he had leaned in closer against his own will, and Brendon was staring at him, an anxious but hopeful look in his eyes. Brendon tilted his head a little, and that was all the invitation Spencer needed before he moved the rest of the way in and pressed his lips gently to Brendon’s.
Spencer sighed as he felt the cold press of Brendon’s lips against his own, and he pulled back and kissed them firmer this time. Regardless of the slight chap from the cold, Brendon’s lips still felt amazingly soft. Spencer had noticed how plush Brendon’s lips were before, but he wasn’t close to what he imagined kissing them would be like. He lifted his other hand and was now cupping Brendon’s face from both sides and Brendon’s arms wrapped around his shoulders, pulling him closer.
He felt a toungue lick at his lips, and he immediately opened his mouth. Brendon let out a quiet moan that drowned out Spencer’s even quieter breath as their tongues met. They kept it light, little touches of tongue now and again, before eventually pulling back. Spencer’s face was still close to Brendon’s and he had a close up view of the smile he sent Spencer.

“It’s still a little cold in the hallway, let’s get inside,” Spencer suggested, wide smile taking up his face.

Brendon nodded his head in agreement, grabbing Spencer’s hand as he followed him inside.

“You know, this seen actually scared me when I was kid. My mom had only taken me to see the Santa once, but after I watched this I didn’t want to go anyway,” Spencer commented. He was laying against Brendon on the couch. It was late and they had exhausted all of their movie options, so they decided to watch A Christmas Story and quote lines.

“I always thought it was funny, but I’m mean like that.”

Spencer scowled and poked Brendon in his side. Brendon just stuck his tongue out childishly in retaliation. Spencer laughed and smiled at him, and Brendon smiled back. Spencer couldn’t resist leaning up and pecking his lips.

“I like being able to do that,” he whispered as he pulled away.

“I like you being able to do that too.”

Spencer felt a grin stretch across his face, He couldn’t help it, he was happy. He had been harboring this crush on Brendon for long enough, and it was about time he did something about it.

Fuck Ryan for being right again.

“You have a really nice smile Spence.” Brendon told him, wearing a smile of his own.

“Yeah, I’ve been told.” Spencer laughed and gave Brendon another kiss, lingering for awhile longer. He pulled back and looked at the clock, jumping up when he saw the time. “Hey, it’s officially Christmas. I don’t care what you say, you’re getting you gift now.” Spencer walked into his bedroom and opened the closet door. He pulled the package out, adjusting until he could get a grip on it since it was long.

Brendon’s face took a surprised expression when he saw the package. “No, Spencer, you didn’t have to get me something big. I-I didn’t really have a lot of money to get you something good.” He started protesting just like Spencer knew he would, but he wouldn’t hear of it.

“I know you don’t, and I don’t care. I don’t give gifts to people expecting to get something in return. I give them too people because I want to. I’m sure whatever you got me is absolutely fine, now open you present before you hurt my feelings.”

Brendon tried to look reluctant, but Spencer could easily see how excited he was. Brendon tore the wrapping paper off, and when he saw the picture on the box underneath, he stopped and looked at Spencer. “Oh my god, Spence, tell me you didn’t.” He looked at Spencer with his eyes wide, most of the wrapping paper still on the box.

“Go on.” Spencer nodded at the box and smiled.

Brendon looked at it, biting his lip hesitantly, before ripping it all the way off, revealing the full picture of the keyboard on the box. Brendon stared at it a little, before jumping up and hugging Spencer.

“Thank you.” he spoke into his shoulder. Spencer just wrapped his arms around his waste and kissed his hair.

Spencer had known he would like it. It came up during one of their music conversations, when Brendon had been talking about how he hadn’t been able to bring his keyboard with him. Spencer had taken his time picking it out, even recruiting his sister who also played a keyboard, to know what kind would be best.

“I’m going to guess you like it?” Spencer asked laughing.

“Stop asking stupid questions and kiss me,” Brendon said glaring.
Spencer just smiled and complied. When they pulled away, Brendon reached up and smacked Spencer on the head.

“Hey! Why did you do that?” Spencer asked rubbing his head.

Brendon glared at him. “That’s for buying me such a great gift and making anything I get you look like crap now.”

They laughed and sat back down on the couch, Brendon running his fingers over the box in front of him. “Want to open it now?” Spencer asked.

“No. I’m going to get your gift, even though it’s not as good, but whatever.”

Spencer waited as Brendon went to the bag he brought with him and pulled out a wrapped package. He handed them to Spencer, smiling nervously.

Under the wrapping paper was one box, and Spencer opened it and saw several items. There was a copy of ZOOLANDER, a 20 dollar Starbucks gift card, and a key chain with a Christmas tree on it. Spencer realized Brendon was still worried, and he reached over and pulled him into a hug. “It’s perfect.”

“It’s crappy,” Brendon protested.

Spencer pulled back and glared at him. “No, it’s absolutely fine. I love this movie, and I love coffee, and I think the Christmas tree keychain is extremely appropriate. I don’t care how much you spent, it doesn’t matter. Besides, this time I’ll let you get away with a kiss being part of your gift.”

“Well I guess I should pay up, huh?”

The next day they had woken up early in spite of how late they went to bed. Since they had already exchanged gifts last night, they were able to just start making breakfast right away. When they were about to sit down, Brendon got a call on his cell phone. He looked at the number, and Spencer saw how he tensed up.

He flipped open the phone and brought it to his ear. “M-mom?”

Spencer froze up as well, wishing he could hear both sides of the conversation.

“Merry Christmas to you too.”

Spencer saw the lost expression on his face, and he wrapped an arm around him comfortingly. Brendon’s family hadn’t even talked to him since he left, so this call was very unexpected.

“Oh mom, I miss you too.” Brendon’s voice broke at the end of the sentence.

Spencer decided that he should leave Brendon in private, and got up and went to the living room. Twenty minutes later, Brendon emerged, his eyes a little red. “How did it go?”

Brendon sat down next to Spencer and had one of the happiest smiles he’s seen. “She said she missed me, everyone missed me. They wanted me to come over for Christmas, and to be part of the family again. She said they were willing to try, they would do whatever it took for me to want to be there again.”

Spencer smiled, so extremely happy for him. “So you’re going over there today?”

Brendon bit his lip and looked at Spencer. “I told her that I had plans, with my boyfriend, and wasn’t going to break them.”

Spencer knew he must of looked stupid with the way his mouth was hanging open, but he couldn’t believe Brendon would do that. “Brendon, you didn’t…”

“She said, If you want,” Brendon abandoned his nervous looked, and the smile was back on his face, “you could come too. I was thinking that maybe we could just stay at your family’s house for lunch, and then maybe go to mine? You don’t have to if you don’t want to. She promised that everyone would be nice, so they will, but it will still probably be awkward.”

Spencer shook his head and kissed Brendon, so happy he felt stupidly giddy. “Of course I’ll come. I don’t care how awkward it will be, if you’ll have me there, I’ll be there.” Spencer stared into Brendon’s eyes, making sure he understood that Spencer was not reluctant to do this at all.

Brendon smiled, and pulled him in for another kiss. “God, Spencer. They want me back. My FAMILY. I haven’t seen them in six months Spencer, I get to spend Christmas with my FAMILY.”

Their moment was interrupted by a frantic pounding on the door.

“What the hell?” Spencer mumbled, standing up and walking to the door with Brendon in tow. He opened it to find Ryan and Jon on the other side, Jon’s arm around Ryan’s waste, holding him close.

“You guys have to come with us now!” Ryan didn’t give them any choice, just grabbed them and yanked them toward the stairs.
“What the hell Ryan, where are we going?”

“Pete and Patrick’s,” Jon answered. “Pete wants us to have breakfast there, and he’s planning on proposing to Patrick, so you guys HAVE to be there.”

“Aww, they’re both so cute. They deserve to be married,” Brendon said. “Hey Jon! Guess what? My mom called today and invited me over for Christmas!”

Jon stopped short on the stairs and turned to Brendon, a happy smile on his face. “Are you serious?”

Brendon nodded, and Jon grabbed him and pulled him into a tight hug. Spencer and Ryan watched for a little, until Ryan became impatient. “Brendon, I’m happy for you, really, but I want to get upstairs before Pete proposes without us there.”

They laughed and Jon let him go, and all four of them ran up the rest of the steps and into the apartment.

“Look, it’s the love birds!” Pete exclaimed as he let them in. They walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table with Patrick. There was a lot of food laid out on the table, including eggs, pancakes, sausages, bacon and other breakfast foods.

“Wow, who cooked?” Jon asked.

“Pete.” Patrick answered, throwing a smile in Pete’s direction. He gave Patrick his big grin, showing all of his teeth and looking extremely proud.

“Wow, you can cook?” Brendon asked, surprised.

“When I want to. Occasions like these don’t come along very often, so don’t get used to it.” Pete said, looking at everyone but Patrick.

All four of them through each other knowing looks while they watched Pete act more antsy than usual. When Pete accidentally knocked over a glass of juice, Jon decided to save him anymore humiliation.

“Pete, just fucking ask him already.”

Pete looked at Jon like a deer caught in head lights, than looked at Patrick, who was giving him a confused look. Pete fiddled with the hoodie he was wearing, than stuck his hand in the pocket. He took a deep breath, and grabbed Patrick’s hand.

“Patrick, I love you so much. I know I tell you this everyday, all day long, but I never get tired of it. Being able to say I love you and not have you push me away, and even say it back, is one of the most amazing gifts you could ever give to me.” He paused and got down on one knee, and Patrick gasped, and looked at the rest of them disbelievingly. “Patrick Stump, I love you. And I want to be able to wake up and tell you I love you every single day of my life, because I know it will be true forever. I have already decided that I want this, and now I’m asking you if you want this too. This was suppose to be the perfect moment, and it didn’t include orange juice dripping off the table and onto the floor, but going along with my accident prone ways, I guess it is perfect. Patrick, will you put up with all my accidents, all the trip to the emergency room you are bound to accompany me to, and all the orange juice glasses I will inevitably knock over, and tell me you love me for the rest of our lives?”

Patrick stared at Pete in silence, a the disbelief not gone from his expression. His blue eyes were wet from unshed tears, but he still didn’t say anything.

Pete squirmed under Patrick’s stare, looking unsure of himself. “Trick?”

Patrick seem to wake up, and Spencer had never seen him smile so wide. “Put the ring on me and get the fuck up here so I can kiss you.”

Pete laughed and just got the ring on Patrick’s finger when he was pulled up by his shirt and Patrick smashed their mouths together. They continued to kiss passionately, ignoring the cat calls and whistles everyone was sending them. A shattering sound from the living room was finally able to break them apart.

“What…Jon trailed off confused. Spencer and Ryan looked at each other, then got up simultaneously and went to the living room where the tree was. There was a broken ornament on the floor, and the ones on the tree were swinging slightly, as though the tree had been moving.

Everyone looked at each other confused, but Spencer just smiled. He looked at the star of the tree that was still moving slightly. It caught the light and reflected it for a quick second, as though it was winking at them. Spencer was reminded of the Christmas tree keychain Brendon bought him.

That tree will easily be one of the best presents any of them will ever get.

A/N: I didn't get any homework done today, but that's okay because I finished this. Let me know what you think.
