I surround myself with people. Not just anybody, but people that make me laugh, people that make me smile, people that respect me and appreciate me. I was invited to a 4th of July cookout. It is so nice to be accepted. We had steak, burgers, hotdogs, potato salad, my calico beans, watermelon, and cheesecake. There was so much to eat and it was all delicious. We were talking about bugs, locusts, praying mantises, and then one of the guys mentioned that praying mantises eat their mates. One of the women said she was glad we all didnt do that. So I followed with, I dont think I would want to eat my husband he would be a too gamey. I got several laughs and the woman said ooh that is just wrong on so many levels. Not to offend me, just because obviously I am weird. Well, another woman started in on a story about how a friend of hers was sharpening a knife and then said if I were to eat a human I think the butt would be the best part, everyone in the group backed away. (not at the party in the story) This is how I know I am welcome. Everyone laughed, treated me with respect and included me in conversation. I cant complain about life. I have a wonderful husband that loves me, a beautiful son, friends that I can count on, a great dog, and a comfortable house. I have so many things to be grateful for. It was a good independence day. My husband is fighting a war in Iraq and I love him for it. I will wait as long as it takes. Youre a wonderful man Shawn.
