After Jeremy went with Sarah to get her things back, after he saw what remained of what she went through, the deaths that she saw, experienced, helped with on hand, Jeremy could not leave her, would not leave her. He asks if she'd prefer going back to her house or to his room at Martha's house. It doesn't matter which one she says, because he is not going to leave her, not until he sees she's slept and eaten. There's so little that he can do, but he has to do something.
He can't sleep.
She passed out on the way back, and he had enough presence of mind to notice it, to grab her and carry her, and it was effortless. She's tiny, exhausted, hadn't eaten in who knows how long.
She's sleeping on the bed, obviously exhausted, and he wonders how long it has been since she has been able to sleep, but he can't out of worry, out of what he saw. There was nothing quite so violent like that-- he saw plenty, he saw dead bodies, but nothing so mangled, torn apart, limbs ripped everywhere, blood stained on the pavement. Vampires aren't quite that... grotesquely violent that he's had to see. Damon told him to leave while he was torturing the werewolf. There were never bullets involved that Jeremy had to be around, and there's so much blood on this street, a monster body. He shudders.
Half of it is unreal because most of the blood is black and white instead of the red that he's accustomed to. He stared at the liquid, uncertainly until he reminded himself what it was. It was blood, and they got her items and they left again, and now they're back in a room. They're sitting there. She's finally sleeping, and he's going to watch over her even if the danger has already passed. He can't do anything else. Jeremy wouldn't want to do anything else.
His chest hurts, and he doesn't know how anyone can live having to go through that, how she will and at the same time, he knows she has to and he knows it's...
It'd be good that she does that. Jeremy knows what it's like to die alone. Still. Still he cares about her, and it's not fair, it's not fair that it happened. He talked to Elena, and he knows the deaths were Society related, that Josef and Damon were working together to bring the Society down, which means-- which means it could easily happen to Elena or to Damon though at least he would survive it. It could happen to anyone trying to beat the Society.
Jeremy takes in a breath, shifting on his position on the floor and closing his eyes.
