It's strange to me that they only just started doing that. Whenever I had to ship international packages they always had to manually enter it at the USPS office. It was a bear when I shipped out 30 shirts and half of them went around the world and that was over two years ago. I distinctly remember it because I felt like an ass holding up the line for so long.

Edit: Ah after some research, maybe it was tested in our area (being a major USPS hub) before officially relasing in the wild. Crazy.

Looking more into it it looks like the thing effecting you is this "All data MUST be electronically filed" for screening purposes. It mentions on the site that "If customs declarations are completed by customers online (e.g., through Click-N-Ship® service), the data is automatically captured in a USPS database and transmitted as necessary." Sorry if that is where you mention the prepay part is only for priority. This passage insinuates that you can maybe fill out customs digitally and still pay in person?

It bites. It looks like they want to take the leap into fully digital and don't have the manpower/did the change all the wrong way. I hope the Stamps account works out for you!

I got the stamps account to work, and it looks like it will actually save me time because the international inputs are simple, and the prices are the same so no issue there.

My local post office is small, there's usually only one person behind the counter at a time (I know all three workers quite well). so something like this really slows things down. and a really don't want to come in with a giant bag full of international packages and have the one grumpy woman be working... I chat with the other two, but she just silently radiates grumpiness

thanks for looking into it!
