016th Shattering * Audio / Action for House #3
[Out of the three, Keiichi had probably been the one to take the realization that everything had been an experiment the best. He didn't hate himself for what happened, he wasn't angry with himself or Haruhi or Minato, he was simply upset that it had been an experiment because that was what made everything more complicated. Still, at the time, he had been himself, in love, but himself. The thoughts, the actions, the decisions, all belonged to him, all of them were things he could accept as coming from him.
Compared to flashes of memories of himself smashing Rena's head, of a world in which he was a girl, a world in which Rika was killed yet again and he transformed into some sort of wizarding monster, or a world in which, at the key moment, instead of staying to fight he ran away with Rena to marry her abandoning Rika and the others... Having been in love like that, having done those things with Haruhi and such, was nothing. Compared to the things he had done in the past, shooting at little kids with a model gun... This was nothing. And God knew that he had enough reasons to hate himself and any possible version of himself, he didn't need more. And because it was something he could accept as being part of him, he accepted it and merely lamented how it had ruined the relationship with Haruhi and Minato, keeping a faint hope that things would be able to be fixed with given time.
That didn't mean he had nothing to seriously haunt him from the experiment. It was just not something directly related to Haruhi and Minato. Things he had been avoiding thinking, things he had refused to accept, things he had run away from, all of them, during the experiment, came to him and he accepted them, thought of them, because he had been in love, in real love and it had made sense. But at the end it was for nothing and he felt like he had betrayed them all because of that.
That was why, as soon as Monday had hit and Keiichi had woken up, he had ran away from the house where he lived with Satoshi and the girls. Hidden in the shadows, he ran and ran until he reached House #3, where he begged Ami to allow him to stay for a few days. Not because of the experiment but because of himself. The experiment only made him stop running away from it all, but those things were things that were inside of him, inside of his mind. And he had betrayed them, he knew he should have talked with Rena and the others, but he couldn't, he didn't dare to, he needed some time to think and fix his mind. Decide what he didn't want to decide, and thus he ran away from them and hid at Ami's house. She was the best option, Haruhi wasn't one now and Minato and Hughes were too close to the house for being viable. He needed distance and someone he trusted to be sure that he didn't have a syndrome outbreak.
And then the draft notice came and he was at a loss of what to do. He couldn't leave the others alone, true, he had just done that but Minato was close by and Minako, and Hughes and Winry... But now, Minato would leave and though he still had Hughes there the man also had to watch over his own child and Winry. And Adell would be going too. And Bernkastel would be there, he never fully trusted her, he wasn't stupid enough for that and she knew so much... But ever since the previous month he had been far more wary of her than ever. And part of him wouldn't be surprised to find himself, not killed by the witch, but driven to madness by her if she was bored enough. Not that Bernkastel had shown signs of wanting to do that but... During that experiment, when he had been a wizard, he had been very willing to do that and had seemed even convinced that any other witch or wizard would want to if it was entertaining for them.
Honestly? He doesn't expect to come back alive. And he needs to be sure that they will be fine while he's gone, even if not long ago he heard what seemed Takano being kidnapped.]
