So on April 18th 6 wild horses were slaughtered. Inhumanly and it
caused a HUGE outrage in the horse community... as well as with me
because i love horses. It was a really sad day and a harsh dose of
reality and what is really happening to these horses
Today the Secretary of
Interiors office suspended indefinately the sales of ALL wild horses
under the Burns Ammendment. This means that they can not be slaughtered
now and this is really REALLY good news.
As stated earlier, the Department of the Interior has
suspended all sales of wild horses indefinitely.
Here is the rest of the story:
A Native American tribe, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, who had purchased
200 animals from the BLM, exchanged these older animals with younger animals
with a horse dealer, whose intent was to send them directly to slaughter.
Of the two loads (a total of 87) that were slated to be shipped to the
slaughter plant in DeKalb, Illinois, only one (containing 51 animals)
actually arrived at the plant. Unfortunately, 35 of those animals were
slaughtered before BLM could intervene. The remaining animals from the
first load are currently being held safely at the DeKalb plant, and the second
load of animals is being held safely at the horse dealer's. Law
enforcement has been involved, and BLM will be buying back all of the remaining
horses. BLM has spoken to the media so it is likely we will see this on
the nightly news tonight. The Department will be making a formal
statement sometime tomorrow.
I know most of you dont care but i do and i think that you should care what happens to animals too.
Watch this
Video
this video shows how animals are slaughtered when they go to
slaughterhouses its really kind of graphic so if you cant handle things
like that i think it might not be a good idea to watch it. but i do
think it is a good idea to watch because it may open your eyes to why
people are so outraged about the way our animals are treated, and about
the way our wild horses, which are part of our countrie's history and
heritage, are being treated.
H.R. 297
and S. 576 still need your voice, to ensure that the Burns Amendment be
reversed for good.
These are the bills that need to be passed so write to your senators
expressing you feelings and thoughts on this subject and help save our
horses please. every voice makes a difference it really does.
