Hey, I'll be straight up. I'm moving back to Michigan! Yay! And the reason is as follows...
....I don't want to be here anymore.
Okay, you got me, there's more to it than that. As some of you [should] know, the year mark is coming up this October. Lease is ending. There were two choices--stay here, or go back to Michigan. Obviously, Chicago offers a larger variety in job opportunities, diversity in entertainment and activities, a great chance to achieve true independence, reliable public transportation, etc. Great stuff right there. What does Michigan have that could possibly beat those aspects? Not a lot, I'll admit. But the thought of living on my own, stuck in an empty apartment (with the exception of Orion), having nothing to look forward to while I desperately try to make rent money sounds incredibly depressing. That doesn't seem right.
I miss familiarity. I miss friends. I miss my sister. I miss going to school (okay, only kinda). I miss working in my desired field (video production). I miss driving. I miss cheaper rent. I miss all that shit.
So, hey, why fight it? I'm 21 (almost 22....ew.) years old. I shouldn't deprive myself of the things that made me so happy. I have plenty of time for that in the future. ;o) For now, I want to finish college and finally get my degree. I want to attend the drive-ins again. I want to go bar hoppin' with my friends who have finally turned legal. I want to edit and do video work again. I want to laugh and catch-up with friends during Wednesday night Applebee's. I want to swing dance at the Waterfront and at Hodges Hall again. I want to get together with the girls once more. Basically, I just want to live it up while there's still time. I can't do that here in Chicago. Not yet.
So, come October 1st, Tyler and I will be moving into an apartment in Springlake, Michigan. A great spot between Grand Haven and hometown Muskegon. In regards to the job situation, there is good possibility I will be working at Grand Haven's Culver's while putting time back at DSE-TV (Channel 97). Once things are settled, I hope to find more video opportunities in Grand Rapids. During my stay, I plan to attend MCC, finish those three classes, and have my Associate's Degree! Fingers crossed! This is the plan. I will stick with this plan rather than make spontaneous decisions without much thinking or debate. ;o)
Small problems, of course, come with every significant choice, however. For instance, I am without a vehicle. I sold my baby ('95 Chrysler), and the Lumina (which still resides sadly on my father's property) doesn't seem too fit to drive these days. LeeAnn graciously has offered her car to be sold seeing as that she will not be needing it soon enough, which I may take her up on. Naturally, though, if you are looking to be rid of your vehicle, let me know. I'm up for all those suggestions.
Speaking of transportation, there seems to be a lack of it for the move from Chicago to Michigan. Tyler and I have furniture and whatnot still here that needs to be moved. Moving trucks, such as U-Haul, cost a pretty penny ($200 for smallest truck, excluding gas or time). To save both him and I a good deal of money, we're looking to our friends for help. If you have a truck or a trailor or something that could move an apartment's amount of stuff, we could definitely use your help. I will pay for your gas here and back, and probably throw extra for your time and effort. Let me know if you can help!! We'll discuss details. :o)
Okay, I'm done. That's the news. Hopefully I included everything. I can't wait, honestly. Of course, though, I'll miss the friends I have acquired here in Chicago. You guys are amazing, and I plan on keeping contact with you. No worries. :o) I just hope for everyone's support, and am grateful for the encouragement I've already received!!! Thank you! Love you all & take care!
