let me just go ahead and say that today was a fucking fantastic day.

up early with nick, 9:15 maybe. a nice, relaxed morning. made it to school by 1, met up with kurt to pick up my paycheck and hear the story of his week, which was amazing as always, developed 5 rolls of film from astoria that im more than pleased with and in the process, got a pretty badass phone call.

victor olivaria, my neighbor and friend from home now drumming/studying in boston at berklee, called from the washington monument. just so happened to be in DC with his roommate from maryland, visiting for their spring break. needless to say, i told him it was required he come by for a visit/tour of insanity/the museum so around 3:00 i got to see a face ive known longer than a year and a half. it was a short lived but pretty great taste of home. i had class at 3:30, eventually sent them off and made it by 4, and all we ended up doing was going upstairs to check out the modernism show. donna mckee is wonderful.

and for the most badass part of the day, the auditorium had a showing of a sally mann (absolutely amazing photographer, controversial as well so you might be familiar... pbs.org/art21/slideshow/?artist=138 for a quick slideshow) documentary (not the pbs art21 series) followed by a talk with her lead by one of the corcoran's curators. i think the entire auditorium fell in love with her by the end. what a badass lady. sally mann and annie leibowitz in one year. i love the corcoran.

sophie, nick, and i returned home for ghetto dinner, corey joined us in the fort for a bit of a session and a lot of laughing uncontrollably, we enjoyed coffee on the balcony, taking advantage of the first mostly windless night in who knows how long, and we all got comfortable to watch 'borat.' fucking hilarious, i have to say. offensive and terrible and out there but i laughed the entire time.

ive spent the rest of the night editing negatives on the light table, as apparently i can hardly wait till class tomorrow so i can get down to scanning them and sequencing a final project. i cant even begin to express how happy i am that i took on this project - all semester last year i desperately needed a reminder of why i loved photography and this went above and beyond my hopes for regaining that love. this work makes me feel alive again.

and i should really go to bed.
