I have a slight problem when it comes to exercising good judgment about whether or not to buy impractical fun clothing items at thrift stores. I have entirely too many pretty gowns that I have no occasion to wear because of it. Fortunately, however, every now and then it turns out I'm glad I have them in my closet, because a show or a larp will arise in which I can wear them without having to go out and buy anything new.
The costuming hint for The Dance at the Dawn at SLAW is fit for a fancy fantasy ball. My character is religious and dreamy, so I've decided I'm going to wear
this dress, which has yet to ever come out in public.
It's very pretty and I really like how it looks on me. It's a little wedding gown-y, but I think the fantasy aesthetic excuses that a little. I also have a white satin wrap with a fringed edge that I plan to wear over my shoulders; I'll have to check, but I think it matches the under layer on the gown. It will be nice to dress up and look pretty after how run down I've been feeling. And also to justify the purchase of something that's been heretofore gathering dust in the closet.
