Wow, what an amazing episode. Found myself veering from laughing way too hard to being totally unnerved by Walt's peculiar sense of zen.

OMG, that intro blew me away! How far forward are we flashing to there, I wonder?

Love the Three Stooges thing going with Walt, Jesse and Mike, now that he's back. The scheme with the magnets was awesome :) How long it lasts remains to be seen, but it's good to see Walt encouraging Jesse rather than belittling him for once. Also love how, once again, we see cause and effect. In solving one problem by erasing the computer hard drive, Walt's inadvertently created another by revealing Gus' secret bank account.

Poor Skyler. That last line "I forgive you" just gave me chills. I'm not entirely certain Walt will want Ted as a loose thread, no matter what he says to comfort her.

I agree. I can totally see Walt sneaking into the hospital a la Mike with Mexican twin number two. He wouldn't even ask Mike to do it, either. He'd go in there himself to let Ted know that sleeping with Skyler was the biggest mistake of his life.

The combination of the tenderness of Walt's embrace with the meaning of his underlying message was just terrifying. There's no way Skyler can back out of anything now.

Well, the bacon shot (yikes, that sounds vaguely unclean) indicated it was his 52nd birthday. The whole thing started at age 50 and the events of the first 4 seasons can probably fit into a year. So maybe another year, maybe less?

Big-caliber weapons mean a big showdown. Is it with some other cooks and dealers? Is it with Madrigal? *gasp* Is it with _Jesse_?

Thanks for pointing out the bacon 52 thing. I missed it when I was watching. I'm also wondering how far we're delving in terms of eps. Was that the start of the final ep, or is that a scenario coming up earlier on?

I'm scared to think what he needs that gun for! It's funny that he bought a gun aiming for a showdown with Gus and never got one. Now he finally gets a showdown he wished for back in S4...but looks so regretful and sad about it. Can't help but think that it's another allusion to the adage 'be careful what you wish for...you just might get it' re Walt's path.

Not to mention the criminals who may go free because the evidence in their cases was destroyed too...
I can't get over that first scene. One review I read said that the name Walt was using is Skyler's maiden name, is that true? I'm wondering if his family ends up dead!

Didn't even think of that, but yeah. That makes the whole cause-effect thing even worse!

I'm not sure of his alias and whether it's Skyler's maiden name, but reading around, people have correctly observed he's not wearing his wedding ring in the opening scene. And he makes mention of his ring in a later scene with the magnet test at the junkyard.

No clue. It could be the start of the final ep, in which case Walt's fate is pretty obvious. Or, it might be the end of episode 8 -- wouldn't that be mean?

They do have a happy knack of showing that things aren't quite as they seem, so while there's stuff to be drawn from the scene, I get the feeling VG and co have left enough elements open to give some flexibility. I don't believe they've even written the last 8 eps yet!

If it is the end of ep 8, that's a hell of a time jump! And would be a total mindfuck.
