[The boy speaks in a low voice. It's still dark outside, and he sounds like he hasn't slept much this night. ]
I can't sleep. Everytime I try, I think about...about the holiday, and about home, and...about these stupid hats.
[The stupid hats that he would normally have fun with, except that his sort-of crush left not too long ago, and that wound was still healing. It doesn't help that he's starting to develop a complex about being left in one way or the other.
Or that he's up far past midnight, and with that comes a hoarse whisper, that voice that only the children can hear for some reason. The adults listening might hear a creak of the old building, or a rustle of the wind in trees, but all Med'an knows is that damned voice scaring him and keeping him awake.]
Shut up! I can't sleep because of you, you stupid -
[The door opens and Med'an's voice is choked off in shock. He wasn't really expecting the creature to come up and get him.
