Alright, so the band finally gets some press.. we got ourselves an interview from a good friend over at AbsolutePunk.net. so for your viewing pleasure, here's Adelaide's very first phone interview:
J: Hey, man, what's going on? This is your band's first interview?
M: Yep, the very first one. Thanks for giving us a chance to do this.
J: No problem at all. Let's talk about your influences. What kind of stuff do you listen to that really influences the way you create music?
M: Well, I know that Blink-182 is of course a huge influence on us. Both me and John have been listening to them for years, but I'd say that we're more influenced by the newer stuff from them, because we're not really a pop-punk band, we're more post-emo. We're mainly influenced by Brand New, Thursday. I know personally I'm very much influenced by some of the indie-type emo bands, such as Bright Eyes, The Beautiful Mistake. Jamison Parker is a really big influence on both of us. I'd also have to say Taking Back Sunday in our lyrics. In a few of our songs you'll hear some Kut U Up-type stuff, a lot of Brand New, and a lot of Days Away. On some of our songs, we'll be using some synthesizers, so you'll hear some traces of Motion City Soundtrack, and Punch Drunk, and The Reunion Show. Oh yeah, also The Movielife (RIP) they've been a huge part of the whole writing-recording process.
J: That's cool, a little shout-out to the indie bands there, very stylish.
M: Of course, dude.
J: How about outside of music? What kind of stuff influences the writing? I'm sure that being emo-ish, you'd have to be writing about girls. A lot of break-up songs and love songs?
M: Yeah, dude, a lot of that stuff. Ex-girlfriends and shit. You've seen some of our lyrics already, and I'm sure you've noticed the name April in there. She was just a mess in my life, so I've centered a lot of songs around her.
J: I like what I'm seeing so far with your lyrics, I can't wait to hear some demos
M: Of course, the demos... Those are being recorded slowly but surely. We should have at least one out by the end of next week.
J: I heard the very first song you ever recorded which was the cover of "Get it Faster". I have to be honest, I wasn't impressed with the quality, but I was impressed with the way you blended the intro into the song. That was very professional sounding.
M: Thanks? I'll take that as a compliment. That wasn't even a real song, it was just an expirment with our tools to see what we had to work with, but I liked the intro.
J: So that will never be released I'm guessing.
M: Never.
J: So will we be seeing any B-sides or hidden tracks on the EP?
M: For now I'll say yes. This weekend we started work on covering Something Corporate's "21 and Invincible," and that will be appearing as a B-side. Two more B-sides are being discussed, so you won't hear much about that until the EP is released.
J: Sounds good, bro. Now about the positions in the band: you used to be the guitarist, but you've recently switched to playing bass, right?
M: Yeah, I felt that I just had more skill at bass, and John is better at playing guitar.
J: What about your drummer?
M: We've had a few different offers for drummers, but we don't have a solid drummer at the moment.
J: Alright, well that just about wraps up everything. Thanks for letting me do this interview, I can't wait to see how far you guys go.
M: Same here.
