Then Ricky disappeared for a big chunk of the show and I thought maybe he got fired midway, but then he came back.
HA! That dawned on me as well. :D That would have been very entertainingly scandalous. But no.
I thought Melissa Leo was very good, but I wasn't too impressed with that movie overall & I'm gonna be annoyed when she keeps winning stuff, especially over Manville, who I thought was amazing. I'd definitely say Hailee is Leading, yeah--she's in that movie even more than Jeff Bridges is--but yeah, I also don't want Michelle to get kicked out (and I doubt she will, since she has The Power of the Weinstein on her side). :\ Too many good people this year. I'm worried.
Foreign Film is always weird. I'm not sure about this year; I've heard Biutiful isn't great (although I still really want to see it) and I thought I Am Love was silly, and IDK about anything else...oh, that category is always dumb. :P They always make odd choices.
I definitely think Olivia Wilde was my best-dressed; I just loved that crazy space-prom dress as well as the hair; the up-dos get old to me. I actually rather liked Natalie's dress, although I thought it needed a bit more red detailing lower down to set it off a little more. But with the lipstick--awesome. And Helena is my idol, now & forever. I wish I had the guts to pull off her crazy fashion. :D
And my roomie found a quote somewhere online that said "the only person who wears green better than Angelina Jolie is Margaret Hamilton." HEE! And it's true! I absolutely loved her green pregnancy dress at the Kung Fu Panda premiere, and then there was the black dress/green earrings combo...love it. She didn't quite look thrilled to be there, but she did look gorg.
Manville wasn't nominated though.. and I don't think she can squeeze into the category unless Hailee Steinfeld gets bumped up to lead (which then kicks out Michelle Williams). Ugh, stupid categories. Honestly, I would be happiest if Mila Kunis gets kicked out in favor of Manville or Weaver, but at this point, I highly doubt that will happen. So overall, I'm generally ok with things.
I didn't really care for I Am Love. Tilda Swinton was great, as always but the film just dragged on forever and didn't really click in any way for me. It's very beautifully shot but I'm a little confused as to why it's been such a popular choice for Foreign Film this year. The critics' reviews for it aren't even that good... lol.
I like Olivia's dress but honestly, I got pretty sick of that Marchesa design when it was fashion week. lol. It's just like THE most obvious Marchesa dress you could possibly choose and the Cinderella ball gown is a bit overdone in Hollywood these days. Oh god, Helena. The shoes. LOL.
Angie does look amazing in green. I think brunettes in general look awesome in green, as do redheads. Haha, I loved how she basically thought her whole nomination was a joke. I'm kind of impressed with celebrities this year, cause a lot of them are being really humble and acting like they don't deserve it. Like Helena said she was being nominated for the wrong movie, Fincher said he thought the critics were over-inflating TSN's importance, etc.
