Lord Byron
Played by Joseph Fiennes
The character:
The sappy romantic poet who led a crazy excess-filled life with illegitimate children, questions about sexuality and numerous scandals.
Potential Director(s):
Joe Wright. It's British, literary and right up his alley.
Why?
Joseph Fiennes was once the star of a Best Picture winner playing a literary icon. Now it's 10 years later and he's doing TV. This could be his big comeback to the A-list.
John Brown
Played by Jeremy Irons
The character:
The abolitionist who led violent attacks against slaveowners in the Pottawatomie Massacre and attempted a slave rebellion at Harper's Ferry.
Potential Director(s):
The Coen Brothers, David Cronenberg or Quentin Tarantino.
Why?
Jeremy Irons can pull off anything and with QT at the helm, this would be like the best movie ever. Basically, it'd be Inglourious Basterds but set in pre-Civil War America.
Victoria Woodhull
Played By Cate Blanchett
The Character:
The controversial Gilded Age Feminist who supported crazy things like free love and who ran for President in 1872.
Potential Director(s):
Martin Scorcese needs to do a less macho movie these days. And he does very well with this era.
Why?
There's definitely a passing resemblance to Cate Blanchett and she's always excellent in strong female roles.
Alice Roosevelt Longworth
Played by Rachel McAdams
The Character:
First daughter to Teddy Roosevelt, socialite, American princess and all-around HBIC for most of the 20th century.
Potential Director(s):
Sofia Coppola, Lone Scherfig
Why?
Alice Roosevelt was the original Regina George/Blair Waldorf/(insert bitchy queen bee). Their looks aren't too dissimilar and McAdams works well in period clothes.
Gavrilo Princip
Played by Giovanni Ribisi
The Character:
The guy who shot Archduke Franz Ferdinand and thus started World War I.
Potential Director(s):
Kathryn Bigelow
Why?
This would be more of a 'build-up to one massive event' type movie rather than a traditional biopic so it's all about the mounting tension. If you've seen The Hurt Locker, KBig obviously knows what she's doing in that area. The resemblance is definitely there and Ribisi can stop playing the over-the-top villains.
Barbra Streisand
Played by Lady Gaga
The Character:
Barbra Streisand.
Potential Director(s):
This is tough cause a lot of the popular musical directors of today are so on/off. Rob Marshall, Baz Luhrman, etc. I guess Bill Condon might be the most reliable bet.
Why?
Lady Gaga might be a strange choice but without all that crazy make-up, there's definitely a resemblance. She can totally sing and acting, she can learn. If Mariah Carey can go from Glitter to Precious, then anything's possible.
