This was really interesting! Thanks for doing it :D The Best Picture voting explanation was really illuminating.

I'm glad it was interesting to people! I thought I was just a crazy person for being into this stuff, lol.

Thank you for doing this, it was so interesting! (Especially for a total statistics junkie.) I'm surprised, and yet oddly pleased, that if we were voting, Carey Mulligan would get Best Actress. Consensus seems to put Sandra and Meryl as the only two real contenders.

And the lack of love for The Blind Side makes me so sad :(

I can't speak for most people, but I haven't seen The Blind Side. But answer honestly: If you were voting based on the trailer alone, would you give The Blind Side a second thought?

As for Carey Mulligan, I think it probably helps that those of us who haven't seen the movie might well be Doctor Who fans. (She starred in possibly the best Doctor Who episode ever: "Blink".)

Sandra and Meryl have the most precursors but I think their performances are considered overrated by many. And Carey has a lot of new fans these days!

I read this first and it definitely helped me understand the system a lot better! (I was always so confused by the whole new voting system)

Thanks for this! I hope we get to do this every year, it was so fun.

Oh good! I'm glad it helped! I figure this would be a good opportunity to explain the system better.

Fish Tank (which I believe actually does not qualify for this year)

Sorry what? Why not?

The Oscars require that a film is released in the US before Dec. 31st and I believe Fish Tank got released after the new year in the US.

Presumably film festivals don't count?

No I don't think so. Otherwise The Hurt Locker would've been 2008.

Is it horrible how funny I found the fact that basically no one voted for Avatar & The Blind Side for BP? lmfao!
This was very interesting though. Too bad the Oscars can't be decided this way. It would make for an interesting show I think.

Haha. Those two should've just been replaced by the two winners of the Should have been nominated category. Then that would've been a pretty great set of nominees.
