WHAT IS THIS BIAS AGAINST REDHEADS.
HEE! OMG, I didn't think of it that way! GINGER DISCRIMINATION!!! You know my feelings about the Fassy & Tilda snubs; pressed forever; all my tears, etc.

Oh god, if the Israeli film beats A Separation, it'll be a shit storm.
Oh shite, I didn't think of that. I've heard Footnote isn't that great...? Guess I oughta see it anyway. :P

And where the hell is Martha Marcy May Marlene in any of this. blegh.
UM YEAH. ALSO PRESSED ABOUT THIS. I fucking loved that movie and it had some really good buzz at first, but then it just...died. I can't believe it didn't get ANYTHING. FUCK.

Wait, Colin's wife has Twitter?! That's adorable! I kinda wish other actors from TTSS had gotten is as well as Gary, but still, thrilled about him. ♥

EDIT: Wait, what's this about Zhang Ziyi? Was her ballot hilarious?

At least Jessica made it! And I thought this was going to be a big year for Gingers. Guess not..

I've heard similar things about Footnote. A lot of people seem to really dislike that movie, but I guess I'll have to check it out. Ehhhhh, not really too interested in these foreign film nominees though. Hopefully A Separation can just win this easily so I won't have to bother. lol.

Speaking of MMMM, it's so weird how badly Sundance films did this year. Compared to previous years, a Sundance baby always manages to get at least some major nominations like Winter's Bone, Precious, An Education and Frozen River even. I guess the biggest Sundance nomination this year was Margin Call's screenplay nod. Yikes. I've been hearing that's why this year's sales at Sundance aren't as crazy (although have you heard that John Hawkes is already getting buzz for The Surrogate? Fox Searchlight bought it for like $6 mil!).

Wait, what's this about Zhang Ziyi? Was her ballot hilarious?LOL, basically she put her ballot up on her website last year and ( ... )

OK I'm feeling slow here - what exactly is pulling a Zhang Ziyi? And why was her ballot entertaining last year?

I'm happy for Gary that he got a nomination, and I haven't seen Demian Bichir's performance so I can't begrudge him the nomination either (and I agree with you that I'd rather an under the radar performance get nominated than a lazy big Hollywood performance). I'm just disappointed Michael Fassbender (and Michael Shannon) couldn't sneak in there. I guess I should at least be thankful that they didn't get snubbed in favour of Leo. It's still a pretty solid category. I haven't seen Tinker Tailor so I'm rooting for Dujardin.

I'm so blah about those additional Best Picture nominees because I was really hoping to see all the nominated films this year and it would have been perfect if they had cut out those three, because then I'd only have TTOL left. Blaaarg.

It's pretty obvious from the nominations that Bridesmaids and Dragon Tattoo kept up traction with AMPAS while Drive fell off completely. And clearly they have a boner for ( ... )

Until Tilda this year, Zhang Ziyi in 2005 was considered the ultimate "snub" in that she got nominated for the Golden Globe, BAFTA and SAG but lost out on the Oscar nomination (most likely to Keira Knightley). But this year, Tilda got all three of those plus BFCA! So it's an even bigger snub. Her ballot was fun because of what she said about them, and the fact that some of the longshots on her list ended up making the nominations! So there's kind of a joke around that her ballot has the magic touch. lol ( ... )

I think it's George vs. Brad, with Dujardin as a spoiler. If Gary wins the BAFTA, then he might have a tiny shot but it's still small. I think they see this as a nomination as the reward.

This year just rings so...SAFE. What just really gets me is that you had all these great films yet the Oscars show how out-of-touch more and more. Like even with their 'foreign film' category there was nothing on The Turin Horse not to mention they really didn't want to go with performances that were exemplary of fantastic acting but happened to be edgy and intense i.e. with Fassy and Tilda. Personally the only thing that made me happy was Gary's nod because he actually had been campaigning so much and it paid off.

That's the nomination I'm curious to see where it goes. I'll be a bit '...' if George does in fact win.

Ugh, foreign film is awful this year. The Turin Horse didn't even make the shortlist and neither did Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, which is pretty ridiculous. Most of the major acclaimed foreign films (Miss Bala, Le Havre, Attenburg) didn't make it, except for A Separation. At least that category has sort of an excuse, they're a small group and they change each other.

If anyone except Brad or George wins Best Actor, it would be the greatest miracle ever. lol.
