Haha I don't know why I didn't just add it to begin with. It's very simple-
- Just press and slice extra firm tofu pretty thinly (the more thin it is, the crispier it'll get).
- Then you'll want to put the slices on a tinfoil/cooking spray'ed cookie sheet.
- Mix up a marinade- I just used 2 parts teryaki sauce to one part soy sauce, a splash of rice vinegar and a pinch or two of sugar to brown it better. I also minced a clove or two of garlic and added that. You can do pretty much whatever for the marinade- anything that looks good, you know?
- Thennnn brush or spread just half the marinade on the up side of the tofu, and put the pan in a preheated 350 oven for about 20-30 mins. I'd watch it the first time you do it, but mine cooked slowly.
- When it looks good and brown, flip the tofu and marinade the other side. Put it back in for another 20 to 30.
- When it was pretty close to being done, I put it under the broiler for about 10 minutes- but make sure you watch it cause it'll burn fast.
- Once it gets brown and crisp it's done. If you like it chewier, make thicker slices.
So far, I've eaten it hot once, and didn't take the time to reheat it later. It was good to me plain, but it would be good on salads or in a sandwhich maybe?
You gotta let me know how you liked it if you try it!
ps, tell matt that he was in my dream last night.... at a church, singing church songs because he was the biggest devout christian ever. it was hilarious. plus he had a bright blond bowl cut for his hair.
