The Outsider is Back

Oct 21, 2010 22:20

Hooooomfgggggggggggg I'm supposed to be concentrating on doing 3 essays, along with the ever-evil math homework right now, but FUUUUUUUUUUUU OUTSIDER'S 3RD ALBUM WAS JUST RELEASED YESTERDAY AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MVAOISRJOIEWU832NJKFJSLD;AJNVAUIAYQWENMZCSFJASOIOIPAUWNFSAYTWAEFASM;FKJFKDASHDOIFJ;KFSH- *SPAZZING OUT AND FLAILING*

...oh yeeeahhh. You guys don't have a single clue who or what I'm talking about though.... :X

WELL THEN. HOW ABOUT I INTRODUCE YOU GUYS TO ONE OF THE FASTEST RAPPERS IN THE WORLD, AND ONE OF THE BEST IN KOREA? 8DDD

So, who the heck IS this "Outsider" I'm spazzing so much about? WELL ladies and ladies, Outsider is pretty much one of the VERY few quality artists left in the Korean music scene, who strikes fear into idol groups' hearts whenever they hear his rapid-fire rapping, and even puts other seasoned rappers in the scene to SHAME. And it's no joke or boast about him being one of the fastest rappers in the world and the fastest in Korea- he can rap at an astounding 17 syllables per second, but the Guiness Book of World Records wouldn't let him have his own rightful entry to himself because he raps in Korean, and not English. Trufax. And they call themselves the Book of "World" Records... How lame is that.... =___=;;

But anyway! He has decided to make his comeback this month in order to grace the filthy, despicable, tone-deaf, idol group-dominated K-Pop world with his mind-blowing symphonies of sonic tongue-twisting rapping. And damn, this man can RAP. In fact, it's more like when he opens his mouth, freakin' spitfire comes out of it. I'm not exaggerating any facts here. He raps so fast that 95% of Koreans can't understand what the heck he's saying, like most rappers out there, but unlike most other rappers out there who mumble and slur their words together when they try to rap their words quickly, Outsider pronounces and articulates every single word crystal clearly. It's not that you can't understand him from his speech alone- it's just that you can't really follow him because of the sheer speed he's rapping at. But if you listen closely, you can understand almost everything he's saying- just don't hurt your ears while you're straining them. Even his normal speaking voice sounds like rapping when he talks! XDDD

But don't be fooled into thinking, "So what if this guy's just fast? Speed isn't everything". And you're absolutely right; even Outsider admits that himself. Although Outsider's specialty is breaking the speed of sound with his rapping skills, not only does his speed stand out from others, but the emotion he puts into his rapping stands out from others. Even though you can't understand a single thing he's blabbering about, somehow, you can feel what he's trying to convey to his audience from his machine gun-like words. And this guy certainly doesn't rap about shooting others or another girl he had a one-night stand with; he raps about topics everyone, all of his audience, can relate to and connect with. This man is a lyrical genius. His words just pierce right through you and leaves an impact, and you feel a little different after listening to a song of his. You don't know why you feel a bit different, but one thing that most people can agree with after listening to an Outsider song: Damn, whatever you just listened to was ama-ZING.

I've been a fan of Outsider's for only a little over a year now, and first discovered his tongue-twisting rapping skills around last summer, back when Outsider was still promoting the title track "Loner" of his second (masterpiece) album Maestro, while I was watching my daily Korean music show on TV on the weekend. I remember my reaction while I was snacking on some peaches... "Oh, this guy raps pretty well!" *Continues to watch contently until... he reaches the climax point of the song where he goes into total supersonic mode* *...Mouth now gaping wide open and half-chewed peaches slowly grossly sliding out of mouth back into bowl* "......HOLY SHIT. WTH. WTF WAS THAT. WTH DID THAT GUY JUST DO- IS THIS FOR REAL?!?? I DON'T FUCKING EVEN-"

...yeah, you get my point there. XD;; But in other words, yes, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY at what this guy who came out of nowhere did on the screen in front of me. I was immediately hooked after the song ended, and needed to know more about this mysterious rapper who could probably rap a whole Harry Potter novel in 5 minutes. Even when I found him on Youtube and showed him to my mom, my mom was like, "...Are you sure this guy is even rapping in Korean? I can't understand a single word he's saying.... And is he even BREATHING while rapping??" XDDD But ever since that fateful day, I have been listening to his music and supporting Outsider. Whenever somebody asks me if I can recommend them good Korean music (after first showing them Seo Taiji, of course ;D), I show them Outsider, and he almost NEVER fails to amaze them. I love watching people's reactions contort from ":|" to "O_______________O" after they watch a live performance of his. It never gets old. EVER. |DDD It makes me happy that I don't always have to resort to cursing idol groups all the time for dominating the charts and hogging all the attention, since Outsider did take the #1 spot on the Korean charts for weeks for that song I just mentioned, beating out the idol group-army ridden competition. >:DDD

But if THAT didn't impress/convince you to have a reason to respect Outsider, then how about these reasons?

-Outsider didn't have humble beginnings when he first debuted. In fact, he was in the underground scene for years before his talent was finally discovered by a record company, so he definitely had to claw his way up to the top of the charts with tooth and nail and fighting with plenty of blood, sweat, tears, and spitfire. Even then, he didn't become really successful and more recognized by the public until last year for his hit song Loner, which catapulted him into the mainstream scene.

-That fast rapping Outsider's famous for, came from a LOT of practice. Outsider would jog for miles everyday, almost marathon-long distances, while rapping as he ran in order to help strengthen and expand his lungs for the air capacity he needed to rap quickly without slurring his words. It nearly killed him to do it almost every single day, but his training has greatly paid off in the end.

-Outsider certainly didn't get all of his lyrics straight from being a lyrical genius or something like that, nor did he become successful by crossing the long, hard road to fame by himself. In fact, he had lots of help from others. How? Before he debuted, Outsider strapped on a backpack packed with some light necessary supplies for survival, and traveled around the whole country, listening to other people's stories and experiences about their own lives in order to help inspire him to make music that everyone can relate to, and to help him understand his audience. He also learned the definition of kindness from strangers by asking them for help whenever his supplies ran low or whenever he needed a place to stay dry from the rain, and most of the time, he got it, simply by reaching out and asking others for help and listening to their personal stories. He strove to become enlightened in empathy, and his hard work and efforts has paid off in the long run, with many people being touched and moved and feeling a connection to his lyrics today.

Still not convinced that this Outsider guy is amazing? Welllll, words don't really explain everything, so...

I have prepared lots of auditory and visual samples for everyone to take in and learn of the sheer amazingness of Outsider!! 8DDD And please don't say that you don't want to listen to him because you hate rap. That shouldn't be a reason why you should reject a new opportunity offered to you. I dislike most rap out there today as well, but trust me on this. I would not recommend what I think is just simply okay to others, and recommend only what seems absolutely amazing to others. I guarantee that listening to Outsider will be a whole new experience you will be astounded by, and if even then you still didn't like what you listened to, at least you can say that you were exposed to a different experience. Broaden your musical horizons, and don't be afraid to try a sample of Korea's fastest rapper! You won't be disappointed. ;]

I prepared a mixtape of what I think most represents and shows Outsider's range of skill, so if you're looking for a whole new musical experience, now is the perfect chance for you to download these samples~ x]

Outsider's MV of his hit song of last year, Wehteuri, or "Loner". If you only have the time to watch one video, then this is THE MV you need to watch.

Live performance of his hit song "Loner". An absolutely fantastic performance where you can see and hear Outsider's raw talent~

Another live performance of his hit song "Loner", but this was the first ever performance I saw of Outsider's on TV, for those of you who are curious. He just blew. Me. Away, and made my jaw drop when I saw this performance~ Also, it's rather amusing how the music program had to squeeze in Outsider's lyrics in big ol' chunks/a paragraph at a time, because this guy probably raps an essay for each song he does~ XDDD

Outsider's MV of debut song Namjadapge, or "Like A Man". A really breckneck and solid track for a first debut~

Outsider's live performance of his song "Like A Man". Yes, he looked really different back then (do you see the Seo Taiji-ness with those red dreads of his?!?) and lost a lot of weight, but certainly didn't lose any of his rapid-fire rapping skills~ ;D

I'll just be posting Youtube videos of the tracks I posted above from my mixtape for again, those who are too lazy to download it, just in case~ But anyway, this is the song called "Innovation" from his first album Soliloquist. He raps REALLY fast here, by the way. And I mean REALLY REALLY fast.

The track "Hit Me (Feat. Illinit)", which is a song off his newest album Protagonist released yesterday. This is the song that left the most impact on me off the whole album, and is just badass. Although Protagonist didn't feel as strong and solid as Outsider's previous two albums, it leaves a "feel-good" feeling on you since most of the songs are bright and cheerful, unlike his usual heavy stuff. I mean, just look at that cute doggy on the album cover compared to the other two ones!! XDDD I'm currently constantly putting the album on loop over 'n' over again~ |DDD

The track "Value of the Man (Feat. Deffinite of Sunday 2pm)", which is off what is in my opinion, his best and masterpiece album, Maestro. This is one of the many songs that demonstrates Outsider's amazing spitfire abilities.

Track "Therapist (Feat. Illinit) off the 2nd album, Maestro. Really clever lyrics in this song. Outsider's rapping is "a whip to masochists"~ ♪

And finally, one of Outsider's best songs, "Luv Business (Feat. Bizniz A.K.A Young Gm, J`kyun)". Just damn sick with plenty of flow and rhythm packed in it. If "Loner" or "Like A Man" didn't impress you, then listen to this track. Dammit, there used to be a video of an English subbed version of this song on Youtube, but I guess it got deleted... DDD8 It was a really good translation too, that showed the many wordplays Outsider likes to use in his lyrics. Oh well. >A<;;; But this song should surely make you fall in love with Outsider's supersonic tongue-twisting rapping skills~ ♥

And this video is for all of you who are REEEEEALLYYY LAZYYY, along with providing a little amusement and amazement. If you can't even have the time to check out a single song, then please at least watch this 25 second video~ This video is a short commercial of Outsider showing off his rapid spitfire skills and rapping off a huge list of names of countries in like, 10 seconds flat, and completely baffling the flight attendant lady in front of him, who gives Outsider a free plane ticket for his mad skillz. Oh, and that random girl who was dancing at the end like a total freak... She was simply trying to impress the flight attendant as well so that she could also receive a free plane ticket. Priceless!! XDDD

Well, that was certainly a lot of videos posted, right? Although I highly doubt that any of you will check out ALL of what I posted above, I trust that you guys will listen to at least one of Outsider's amazing songs~ x) And if any of you guys want any more Outsider music, feel free to ask me! I would be happy to share plenty more of his songs with you guys, because I have all of his songs I can share, ufufuu~ Except for his LP releases, 'cause those songs are RARE. D:

So I'll just leave this here, and see how my pimpage post goes... ;] You guys really don't wanna miss out on listening to him though, because he's not going to be releasing anything new for a while, since he'll be off to the military at the end of the year/beginning of next year!! DDD8 Yes, in Korea, it is mandatory for all men to enlist in the military, no matter what kind of job you have, even if you're a celebrity. There's a reason why going to the military is called the "career-killer" in Korea; everyone forgets about you after you come back!! But not Outsider... All it takes for him to open his mouth again, and people will be reminded of who's boss when he makes another comeback in the future. ;DDD

Oh yeah, I also want to use this post to congratulate Outsider on revealing his 6-month relationship with his girlfriend!!! 8DDD ...Not gonna lie, I was kinda jealous when I first heard the news, like "NUUUUUUUUUU OUTSIDERRRRRRRR WRYYYYYYYYYYY- ;A;", even though I don't have a single chance to meet him in person in the future. XD;;; This sounds like trivial news to most of you, but in Korea, it is EXTREMELY difficult for celebrities to be able to have the courage to come out of their closets, whether they've been hiding a long-term relationship for a while and finally wanting to announce it or finally admitting their true sexuality. In Korea, people actually care about other people have to say on the Internet, whereas here it's all like, "Baaaw, it's the Internet, who freakin' cares", but it's the total opposite in Korea. If the people on the Internet, aka netizens, don't approve of what you're doing, prepare to flamed in real time, real life, hard. It's very common in Korea for celebrities to get openly attacked by people's comments and such, all because of the influence of the Internet, of all things. The extreme care celebrities and other people have to take making sure that they don't piss anyone off and such can put huge pressure on them and lead to them taking their own life due to depression, which is why there is a disturbingly high rate of celebrity suicides in Korea. It's a really tragic tale when you find out the truth behind stardom in Korea, but the truth can be harsh at times.

But Outsider has the balls to admit that hellz yeah, he has a girlfriend, and hellz to the yeah they already bought some fucking couple rings and necklaces and bracelets and all that lovey-dovey shit couples do!! Goddamn Outsider is such a gentleman to his lady!! Korea needs more celebrities to come out of their closets and tell the world that hellz yeah, they've been getting it on with that one hawt chick down the street!! Okay, maybe that shouldn't be admitted, but srsly, Korean celebrities finally admitting that they're taken makes me so happy that they have the guts to come clean. It's hard to reveal a relationship that you have to keep secret in the first place, but no one should have to have the burden of hiding something that big from the public.

Okay, all ranting aside, Outsider seems like a really sweet guy to his girlfriend. And not to mention that she's a violinist too and played a small part in his newest album!! No wonder Outsider's new album Protagonist sounds so happy, he's finally got someone to love and care for~ It really makes my heart feel all swollen up and fuzzy inside to know that he's in love and perfectly happy right now~ <333 I guess that talented people are attracted to each other like that. X3 I feel so sorry that his girlfriend has to wait for him to get out of the army after 2 years, though. That just sucks. 2 years is a very long time. DDD: Let's hope that their relationship stays strong, and that they'll keep contact with each other even though they'll be separated by a long distance!! ;O;

In short: Check out Outsider, he is awesome. You'll regret it big time if you miss out on this great opportunity here. D;

Can't wait for when Outsider will start promoting his newest album again!! I'm gonna try to watch all of his live performances on TV, screw homework~ *O* This son's got talent.
