Name: Guilmon
Fandom: Digimon Tamers
Species: Virus Attribute Digimon
Age: Child Level
Voice Actor: Masako Nozawa, as this is Japanese!Guilmon. No Blum here.
Personality: Despite resembling a small dinosaur, Guilmon is usually by no means a vicious killing machine. For the most part he is very cheerful, playful, and childish. Unlike his dub counterpart, who was kind of a goof, the Japanese Guilmon's silliness is more innocent and child-like. At first he was very naive and clueless about the world around him, but his time with Takato and his friends has shaped the Digimon so that now he's a loyal companion who will fight if necessary, but he still prefers some good old playtime.

Although Guilmon isn't as gullible as he used to be, he's still very friendly and up to making friends if a person seems trustworthy. Actually, he's really open to most people if they leave a good first impression. Most of the time he's pretty optimistic and energetic, loving nothing more than to play with his friends, such as his tamer Takato Matsuda, Culumon, and others. His image song, the Guilmon March even points out that he'd like to play all day. Granted, he knows now when to be serious and will gladly stand up and fight if his friends are in danger. He's grown since his creation and knows that some situations just call for it, especially ones like the D-Reaper and Beelzebumon after he killed Leomon.

Aside from Playing, Guilmon has another great love...food. To be specific, he loves bread of all kinds thanks to his tamer, Takato, feeding him so much from his family's bakery. His abosolute favorite, though, is Guilmon bread, and he's shown being extremely excited when given the chance to eat it, exclaiming "Guilmon bread, Guilmon bread!" in one of the later episodes. In fact, he asks Grani if he wants Guilmon bread, too, to which Shibumi asks if it's his power source. So yeah, bread is definitely a huge part of Guilmon's personality.

Guilmon is very loyal to Takato and his other friends to a point where he gets really upset when they're mad at him, and tries his best to make sure they're all very happy. Often times he'll speak of how Takato told him to do or not to do something, or what Takato says he or other people should do. Really, Takato is very important to him, even when he's not around.

Guilmon has a habit of speaking in third person, making strange grunts at times, as well as occasionally saying "Giru", though not too frequently. His third person speech doesn't just apply to him, either; at times he'll refer to someone he's talking to in third person, such as asking his partner "Why is Takato's face red?" He may also speak in present tense at times combined with third person, e.g. "Guilmon saves Ruki!" He does speak normally, too, but... it's kind of an unusual mix.

This is all just one side of Guilmon, though. He is a virus Digimon, after all, and when he picks up the scent of another Digimon or becomes very angry or enters a fight he'll suddenly become a vicious, violent creature, growling, slashing, and using his Fire Ball attack. He's gotten a better control of it now and will typically just tense up at the scent of other Digimon, though, rather than instantly attack. Still, it's not hard for him to snap out of this mental state even if he does get all fired up, and when he does, he instantly goes back to being is silly, adorable self.

Another thing to note is that in his Ultimate Level (Mega in the dub) form, Dukemon, Guilmon's personality completely changes. He becomes strangely intelligent and noble, if not a bit hotblooded and speaks in a more refined manner. The third person speech is continued when he refers to himself by saying "I, Dukemon". Unlike in the dub, he, as Dukemon, speaks and acts separately from Takato when they're merged; Takato can still speak from within and help fight, though. Other than this evolution, Guilmon's personality remains pretty much intact.

Appearance: Guilmon most often appears as a large, red dinosaur with several black marks all over his body. His head is topped with two wing-shaped ears, while his cheeks eachhave three little spikes. His underbelly is white and has the Digital Hazard mark right at the center, a sign that he has the potential to be a dangerous Digimon. His tail is long and capable of some movement, and his 'paws' are large with three sharp claws at the tips of his fingers.

He's about the size of a human child when he stands horizontally and a bit closer to a young adult when standing completely upright, something he doesn't do often. Oddly enough, his claws can bend and flex. Must be cartoon logic.

As Growmon, Guilmon becomes much larger, though his core appearance is largely unchanged. He does, however, stand completely upright and now has two large horns on his forehead, three claws on his feet, a silver mane, and sharp blades along his elbows. Growmon is very large, approximately the height of a two-story house or roughly around twenty to thirty feet tall.

MegaloGrowmon is even bigger than Growmon and quite the overhaul. With cybernetic parts, jets on his back, and even larger arm blades, he's a force to be reckoned with.

Oddly, Guilmon's Ultimate form, Dukemon, is considerably smaller than both Growmon and MegaloGrowmon and much less beastly. However, with his white armor, flowing red cape, and his weapons, the gram and aegis shield, this evolution of Guilmon has an overall noble appearance. The only tell tale sign that it's even a form of Guilmon is the design of his helmet and the fact that he, too, bears the hazard mark on his shield as well as his chest.

Crimson Mode takes Dukemon and gives him a complete overhaul with red armor and the addition of several wings. His weapons, too, change.

Lastly, there is Guilmon's Baby II level, Gigimon essentially looks like a smaller Guilmon with fewer markings. In this form he's about the size of a plush toy.

Abilities:

Despite being only a Child Level Digimon, Guilmon possesses great power. This is because Takato created him specifically to be powerful, even stronger than the popular Digimon, Agumon. He's very large for his level, being just about human sized, and his raptor-like build allows him to be fairly agile. His claws and sharp teeth also help when it comes to close-ranged fighting, and his Fire Ball attack allows him to shoot a strong burst of flames from his mouth, giving him a nice long range move. Rock Breaker is his other attack, in which he hits his opponent with a great amount of force. Not only that, but as a Digimon he's shown a capability to evolve to higher levels.

Growmon: Adult Level

As Growmon, Guilmon becomes much larger and even stronger than before. He stands almost completely upright and gains a lot more bulk, though doesn't seem to run quite as fast. With his Exhaust Flame attack he can send an even stronger fire ball from his mouth, and with Plasma Blade he charges the blades attached to his arms and slices at his foes. Oddly, he's shown to have evolved to this form without Takato in Episode 34, and no explanation was given.

MegaloGrowmon: Perfect Level

MegaloGrowmon is an enormous, cyborg-dragon Digimon. In this form he's capable of hovering in the air with the jets on his back and, naturally, gains more power, but sacrifices speed. His Atomic Blaster attack fires a strong energy beam from his chest, while when he uses Double Edge he charges up the blades on his arms and then fires them at his foes.

Dukemon: Ultimate Level

Dukemon is the highest level of Digimon, naturally he'll pack some real power. With his Royal Saber attack he shoots energy out of his lance, while Final Elysium releases an energy beam from his shield.

He can change into an even stronger mode called Crimson Mode, and in this form he gains an attack called Quo Vadis, which distorts reality and casts his foes into Oblivion. ... Basically? Yeah. Definitely overpowered, but worth noting since he's post-series.

Gigimon: Baby II Level

In this form his only attack is acid bubbles, in which he shoots...well, acidic bubbles from his mouth.

Mental/Emotional Strenghts:

Honestly? Guilmon isn't the brightest bulb, although he's not really stupid. However, he does show moments of odd insight at times, such as talking to the ARK/Grani when no one else would and suggesting that if Takato really wants to fight alongside him that they'd be able to take on Beelzebumon. He does seem to catch onto things somewhat fast, though. Takato only had to briefly explain eating to him, for example, and he learned it in a snap. He's also very caring for his friends and, though not always immediately forgiving, generally open to people and new things, so long as they're not blatantly wrong. Earlier in the series, yeah, he'd do things that would get him in trouble, but he's learned enough to know a bit better than that.

Guilmon is a very cheerful guy. Most of the time he's up for a good game, so long as it's fun. He's a bit silly and childish, but his positive attitude is definitely a strength. Sure, he has moments where he gets upset or even angry, but it doesn't take much for him to get back on his feet. In fact, even when he and the other Digimon had to return to the Digital World, he told Takato that they'd get to play again and left with a smile.

Weaknesses:

Physical;

Guilmon is powerful, but certainly not invincible. Truth is, in his Child form he's very slender and is shown frequently to be thrown about by larger foes, such as Devidramon. His fighting style mainly relies on getting close enough to do some damage with his teeth and claws, but more than that, the use of his fire ball attack. An armored foe would definitely be able to lay the smack on him, since teeth and claws aren't very useful, and fire may not be as strong either.

Another problem is that Guilmon is a very large child level. This means that it's harder for him to hide or even fit into a proper living space (probably wouldn't be a problem in luceti, since there's less fear of unknown beasties like Digimon, though).

His higher evolutions don't have as many weaknesses, since they gain a lot of bulk, but both Growmon and MegaloGrowmon lose a lot of speed when it comes to running. Dukemon is pretty agile, but also slender, meaning that, like Guilmon, something bulky could do some harm, though they'd have to deal with his armor.

Other than that, it's likely that if Guilmon gets too hungry, then he'd have trouble fighting. Oh Digimon.

Mental;

Guilmon's biggest mental weakness is that he's still young and learning about the way the world works. He's not a total idiot by any means, and he knows a little better than to trust total strangers right off the bat after a few scoldings from Takato, but that doesn't mean he can see through every single ruse. Chances are it still wouldn't be too hard to take advantage of his friendly personality and childish mind.

Emotional;

Probably the biggest weakness here comes from when Guilmon gets into that feral mindset of his. When he's like this he's pretty darn vicious and doesn't think so much as act on his virus-type instincts. He's shown to get like this either when he picks up the scent of another Digimon (though not quite as uncontrollably now) and when he becomes extremely upset, such as when Beelzebumon killed Leomon, and he instantly became enraged. But really? Guilmon doesn't have many other emotional weaknesses, since he's generally really cheerful.
