Tampopo has moved

Just a quick note to fellow Tampopo fans - it has moved to LEVEL ONE. Still at Liang Court though.

Here's how us losers found out:

This past Friday, Jeff and I ventured to Clarke Quay (we try to avoid the area on Friday and Saturday nights generally cos of the massive jams) as we were craving for some comfort food from old favourite Tampopo.

(It was so very nice to have an uninterrupted Friday night out - we haven't done the Fri date thing in yonks, but because of a recent change in Jeff's work sked, it's now possible! :) I had butterflies in my stomach the whole day waiting for our date *blush* hee hee!)

So off we went, and we - separately - popped into the basement spot, as usual.

We ordered, ate, etc.

Then - wait a minute - we realised that the outlet was probably a new joint. The food presentation is slightly different, my fav ramen dish isn't advertised on the menu as usual (although they still had it) and there was no cake counter at the cashier.

When paying, I took a card - can't remember what it said now - and looked around for signboards. The cashier, upon noticing what must have been a slightly distressed expression, said: "Oh, this is a new restaurant."

Me: Then, where's Tampopo?!!!!
Cashier: Oh Level 1 upstairs. *smile*

I swear he must have laughed internally and thought what suckers we were.

But to be fair though, the food at the new joint is very decent. The ramen broth was silky, milky goodness. And the Black Pig cutlets were juicy and flavourful. The service staff were attentive, without being intrusive. They all looked really good too - all the ladies had great make-up on!

Price-wise, entrees at the new joint is about $1-$2 cheaper than Tampopo.

Well, we now have a reason to go to Tampopo (the real one) for another meal then!
