In Seattle. crazy I tell you.
Our big obsessions right now are walking everywhere around our new place to see what's what, and finding a couch on craigslist. We have the minivan until the end of the weekend and it'd be great to be able to find one in that time. We also need some random stuff like a new shower curtain rod and a microwave, but the couch is the big one.
Yesterday was the longest weirdest day ever. Woke up at 5am, stress stress stress until the plane took off (which almost didn't happen*), uneventful flight, arrive in Seattle, kitties came off the plane right away, they lost all my stuff (suitcase and box), so stress stress some more. Got to the place with both sets of parents, love the apartment, got a huge surge of energy and drove around getting some necessities. Cats were traumatized, hid in closets except Sebastian who loves the low windows he can see out of. God help the birds if he ever sneaks out. Brian passed out at 6, I went over to my parents and picked up dinner my mom made for us and met their little puppy- 5 pounds ot total cuteness. Came back and passed out myself at 9- sometime after that the airline brought us my suitcase and box thank goodness so all is good today.
We've walked around the lake near us and checked out the co-op I want us to join. It's $60 lifetime membership and it's a great store- Brian kept muttering "patchouli oil" which is his code word for ageing hippies but I can keep him quiet for periodic shopping trips. The intersection it's at cracks me up- it's so Washington State. There's a natural foods co-op next to a paintball store, across from a bicycle shop, next to a gun store which is next to a computer repair store. heh.
I'm also being seriously tempted by the CSAs out here- where you buy a share in an organic farm and get a delivery of a box of fresh organic produce. They're $$ so we can't afford to do it now, but next year I'd really like to. June- any advice about farmers markets or anything in the meantime?
I just feel so happy being here- it's amazing. There's a billion and ten things to do in the next 5 weeks before the wedding, both for the wedding and in terms of getting our life here sorted out. I'm so happy to be here now though, there's no stress at all. Which is rare in my worry-wart brain so I'm just enjoying it!
