Mr. Darcy?
I was just reading this article about Mr. Darcy and movie adaptations. The new "Pride and Prejudice" with Keira Knightley and Matthew McFayden came out in limited release this weekend and will be all over soon. The article was talking about Colin Firth and how Matthew McFayden had quite a bit to live up to, but then it also went on to talk about how every woman now wants a Mr. Darcy. I think that is a bit funny, because I think I so often want every guy I am attracted to, to be like Mr. Darcy or Mr. Knightley. Do I really look for men to be just like a novel character? Do I have unrealistic expectations? Who knows, it is just a little weird. Anyways, I am actually kind of excited about the new P&P movie. I was not at first, but it does not seem too bad and has been getting pretty good reviews. I think the biggest reason I want to see it though is because of how much I miss England and The Jane Austen Centre. I wish I was there right now, I miss Glynis, Margaret, Kate, Jackie, Dave, ect. They were really great people. I was really happy there and I think right now I am not a very chipper, I am so worried about next year and grad school, that I am not enjoying things very much. I wish I had more time to be with my friends here. Anyways, I need to get a lovely nap, to recover from the weekend. Hopefully I will be dreaming about lovely men in Georgian clothing...
