The other day I was at work (big surprise there *rolls eyes*) and a coworker whom I had never thought of to possess any knowledge of life's whales and ills came up to me and said that he had noticed I looked very distracted lately and was just making sure everything was ok. He knew I was in school and obviously knew I had a job and knew how much I work as well. I told him about everything going on classwise to point out that I had very little, if any, spare time whatsoever. Anyone who has tried to do ANYTHING with me lately can attest to basically having to squirm around to try to get whatever it is in and done. He said the same mumbo jumbo I expected about "I know how it is and I feel you and just stay with it". But then we got onto the issue of social lives and I pointed out that I basically have given mine up to dedicate towards school and work. After that he told me, "you know if there is one thing I've noticed in my years (he's older so I guess he can technically say that) is that there are those who have their social life, go to their parties, and have all sorts of fun in college, but those people then get stuck after college. Then there are those who just give it up and take on college more seriously and save their social life for afterwards. Now what you need to ask yourself is do you want to party now and get stuck after school or do you want to ride it out and reap the benefits of school and success while having your fun and social life. I know it's hard to think like that but being successful and productive will help your life outside of work much better."
The only thing I could do was just nod.
Also, today I was having a discussion with some fellow coworkers including the head of geek squad and we somehow we got on the topic of open positions, promotions, and other such things. Apparently there are quite a few positions open including a double agent position. What was kind of strange was when we brought up the double agent topic, the geek squad senior (who basically gets to decide who gets the job) looked at us and said that they have a couple people in mind for both the double agent position and another higher position in the store. Not even 10 minutes after this conversation, I had to go ask geek squad senior a question about a customer who was calling and while I was back there she complimented me on all of the great work I've been doing and that everyone is saying how hard of a worker I am and how I should be rewarded for that hardwork. She left it at that, but I don't know whether to read more into it or not. I think it would be sweet to get a promotion.
