So, a relative of mine has tried to cancel their AOL account for some time now; however, every time they call, the person keeps them on the phone long enough that they just give in to another couple months of free service and such. I told them to let me call this time and just have all their information written down for me. The conversation went like this:
Me: 1-800-436-0817
AOL: Thank you for calling AOL. How can I help you?
Me: Yes, I want to cancel my service.
*AOL person gets account info*
AOL: Alright, are you just not satisfied because I'm going to go ahead and give you another month free and won't let them bill you until November.
Me: Alright, let me get something straight. I'm going to save us both about 5 minutes here and tell you that I don't want to hear any of your spill. I do not want to continue my service with you because I do not want it and am not going to continue to use it. I have other service that I am now using and have not other need for your service.
AOL: We are going to give you another month to try it. Ok, I appreciate you allowing us to continue your service.
Me: WHAT? NO NO NO The service is to be canceled as of the time we stop talking and if there are any undue charges on the card I will carry out what ever means necessary even if it requires legal means. I suggest you respect my decision to cancel the subscribtion.
AOL: Sir, I will do what I can and you will receive an email confirmation. Thank you for calling AOL.
ugh...
