Character Information

General
Canon Source: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Canon Format: Manga
Character's Name: Shouichi Irie
Character's Age: 25
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. N/A

What form will your character's NV take? A laptop! Shouichi is never without at least one of them at all times. It would just seem natural to him to communicate via a computer in some fashion. Black, with a built-in webcam/video and speakers.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Shouichi is capable of producing Dying Will Flame, an overly dense form of aura that acts as an energy source or source of power to activate and fuel certain devices. Dying Will Flame acts like an actual flame- melting or burning what it comes in contact with- and comes in seven different attributes with different properties. Shouichi produces Flame with the Sun attribute, which means his flame can be used to initiate processes and increase the rate at which they run, as well as possessing healing qualities.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? N/A
Weapons: Unfortunately, Shouichi’s main weapon is the actual base he controlled during his time in the Millefiore, so the only weapon he’ll be bringing with him is a gun.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.

Character History: Once upon a time, Shouichi was an ordinary high school boy who liked listening to music a lot and had dreams of becoming a musician. But alas, nobody can have a normal life in KHR-verse, and the tranquility of his life was shattered one day when a five-year-old child dressed as a cow (Lambo of the Bovino family) torpedoed into his apartment and his mother and sister sent him to bring the boy home. That was his introduction to the Vongola Family, and it left him horrified and traumatized.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it; in repayment for having one of their members destroying his house, the Bambino family sent the Iries a box full of pasta and wine and money…and the ammunition for Lambo’s Ten Year Bazooka, a weapon that sends whoever it hits ten years into the future for five minutes. Having failed to return the box to Lambo, Shouichi ends up keeping it in his room, where one of the bombs falls on his foot while cleaning and sends him into his own future. And on his expedition there, at an engineering college in America, he meets the Big Bad, Byakuran. Frustrated by this, Shouichi returns to his past and attempts to recreate his future so he ends up as a musician, checking once again with the ammo to see if his dream had come true…only to meet Byakuran again in this parallel world, and somehow triggering his knowledge of all the parallel worlds. When he returns to the future again, he discovers a world completely ruined by and under the control of Byakuran, again and again, no matter what he tried to change to avoid it.

His time travel ended up allowing Future!Byakuran to pass Past!Byakuran a message about his powers- but Future!Shouichi was prepared for that. On his eighth trip into the future, the young Shouichi had his memories of time travel and Byakuran wiped for five years, so his younger self could get close to Byakuran and his associates without drawing any suspicion (forcing the younger self to cooperate by blackmailing him in order to get him to follow certain instructions). It was this younger Shouichi who sent the main Vongola family into the past, and then went on to attend the American university with Byakuran, becoming friends with him- until, at twenty, his memories returned of all the parallel worlds destroyed at Byakuran’s hands.

This twenty-year-old Shouichi worked out that there was only one possible universe where Byakuran was defeated, and set about creating the circumstances that would allow Tsuna and his family to defeat them, becoming a double-agent for the Vongola family. By the time the arc starts he’s risen to be one of Byakuran’s Funeral Wreaths, the top six commanders of the Millefiore, and constructed a large, white, round machine that allowed the future versions of the Vongola to be held in stasis while the younger ones defeated Byakuran. After they invade Melone Base, he manipulates its structure to lead them into his lab and explain that he’s really an agent working for them, from that point joining their side as a technical advisor. It was he who explained the rules of the Choice Battle to the Vongola members, where he was critically injured and remained in that state through Byakuran’s defeat. His role is mainly one of an advisor, and the manipulator behind the scenes who engineered most of the plan that led to Byakuran’s defeat.

Point in Canon: The end of the Future Arc. Byakuran has been defeated by Tsuna and his family, and Shouichi has sent the younger Vongola members back to their time. He’s also arranged for all the members involved with the battle with Byakuran to be sent the memories of this future parallel world. Everything has been set to rights, and although Shouichi is still recovering from the Choice battle, he is at least alive and now part of the Vongola Family.

Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A

Character Personality:
Shouichi is a nervous geek. He’s easily flustered, quickly losing his temper when people are slow to understand or things don’t go his way. He’s easily frustrated and prone to anxiety-induced stomachaches, and takes the world entirely too seriously. Even as an adult he’s never learned to tell a joke or develop a sense of humor. And really, if you’re not looking for him, he just sort of fades into the background- just some guy with messy hair and over-sized headphones, falling asleep at strange moments and keeping mostly to himself. When he first reappears in the Future Arc, he’s passed out listening to music, and he seems uncertain of himself and his position as the leader of Melone base, incapable of acting the part of a proper, stern commander or deserving the respect that such a position demands. He seems hapless, tired, and stressed. Until, of course, he takes command of the entire base and pushes everything along his own plans, revealing an unexpected ruthlessness and seriousness you wouldn’t expect from such a nerdy, nervous, neurotic guy.

All of this, of course, hides the fact that he is a genius practically beyond compare and has an amazing ability to cope with situations and strain that most people would crack under. Give him a situation and he can analyze it, predict how people are going to act and what to do in response, fully grasping the gravity of the situation the protagonists have landed in. It’s because he analyzes the worst possible situation and plans for that, allowing him to adjust to less extreme situations at the drop of the hat when things work out better than he expected. Despite his temper and seemingly immature outbreaks of frustration he’s mature beyond his years- after all, he concocted a plan that spanned ten years and involved blackmailing himself and putting himself through unbelievable stress to save the world, and he carried it off almost-perfectly, keeping track of every thread and taking responsibility for his unknowing mistake in allowing Byakuran to realize his power.

For a person who just wants a normal life, with a normal dream of becoming a musician, he’s put himself through hell to do the right thing, maintaining an extremely ruthless façade for years under 24-hour surveillance to be a spy, working behind the scenes to create the chance Tsuna and his friends need to defeat Byakuran. Taking into account how close he was to Byakuran in this time, how much his subordinates trusted him and how much effort he must have put into maintaining those lies, it really becomes clear how much emotional isolation and mental stress he put himself through for the sake of humanity’s well-being. As Tsuna remarked, it’s incredibly extreme. Shouichi puts himself through whatever he thinks is necessary to achieve his goals; at 15 he burned all his textbooks and did everything he could to become a musician. As an adult he risked everything he had, put aside his dreams and went to any length necessary to make sure Byakuran was brought down. He’s incredibly stubborn and dedicated.

Despite his dramatic behavior, Shouichi works well under pressure- it’s only when he’s relaxing or catching a momentary breath that he allows himself to show frustration or admit to being afraid, or when he’s not trying to play the part of Melone Base’s competent commander. Despite his anxiety he continues to put himself in situations where he’s risking his well-being, beyond what he really needs to. If he’s responsible for Byakuran being how he is, then he’s going to fix that, no matter how much he hates that he can’t have a normal life or how much stress he puts himself through along the way, even to the point of almost dying on the battlefield.

All in all, Shouichi is just a guy who wanted to be normal and never had a chance, who can’t just stand by and let the world be ruined if he can do something about, a nervous, stressed guy who just keeps putting himself through more stress regardless of his own desires.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A

Character Plans: Once he gets over the freaking out stage of things, Shouichi will probably look to try to join up with one of the organizations (most likely AGI- they’re mafia-like, and he’s been running with the mafia and all its illegal activities for years. He may not LIKE it, but he’s done it) and actively work towards getting people home and figuring out how to either negate or reverse the effect of the Pull, based on what he already knows about the way parallel worlds and traveling through time works, those sorts of forces. It might be interesting to try to pursue playing him as a double agent again, but I don’t think that would be high up on his list of things to immediately start out doing, if it ever seemed like a good plan at all.
