[The camera clicks on, and there's a very focused Japan before he realizes the light has flashed on and bows his head a little. He's sitting in his room, hands now on his lap politely.]

Um, is this working? It seems to be...

Hello, everyone. Oh, um, I am the country of Japan, for those who have not met me. ..I hope I am not troubling anyone.. but it ( Read more... )

It's a little funny, seeing you of all people unsure of technology.

If you need any questions answered, I'll do my best to answer them for you.

Ah.. um, is it? Why is that?

..I appreciate that, Seguchi-san.

Americans typically complain about Japan coming up with newer technology first and how they are the second to get it. Then the UK complains about being the last to get everything because of being the PAL region.

Ah, I see you remembered my name.

[fdsgfsdg Japan is thinking about this. He's ahead of America AND England? THIS IS. AMAZING.]

Ah, um, I see. I was not aware of this.. Interesting how things can change.

...

I do my best to remember the names of those I meet, yes.

Yes, really~ [ WE ARE AHEAD OF THEM BY SO MUCH! ...Although they do crush us in several areas. But those don't matter. Who needs Shakespeare? ]

If you want technology first, you go to Japan. Things like video games and manga sell quite well, too. A lot of foreigners actually import the original product due to impatience or love of "the original." So, we're definitely on top in that area.

I'm honored! Although I'm not really sure what I should call you. Is Japan-san okay? Would you like something else? Do you make more of an effort to learn the names of Japanese citizens?

Video games?.. and manga?.. hmm. The future sounds intriguing.. [Maybe this whole emerging as a world power wasn't so bad. Maybe America was right.]

Ah, you may call me Japan.. Japan-san is just fine. Um.. I have a human name, as well, but I am afraid that may complicate things...

...I do not know if I would say "more of an effort." Perhaps, instead, that Japanese names are easier for me to recall. That may be the case.

Video games and manga are forms of entertainment, something else Japan as pretty good at.

It doesn't matter what my preferences are. If you have a particular name you favor, I'll call you that.

That makes sense. Western names in particular are more difficult to remember, aren't they?

Mm, I see.. I am excited for this development in my future.

[He really is, even though he's acting all calm and polite. He seems thoughtfully silent for another moment.]

I suppose Japan is just fine. I will save my human name for a time when it is necessary..

Western names are quite difficult, yes.

You should be! It's definitely something to look forward to and it's only going to get better, I'm sure.

Japan-san it is. [ Okay. He kind of lied. Nobody gets away from Tohma without getting an honorific. ]

Most Western names are horrible sounding. They're not poetic and they're difficult to say.

[The honorific makes Japan proud. S-sob his citizens know decent respect.]

Western names.. they are interesting, aren't they? [He hesitates] I somehow think someone from America-san's place would not be aiming to be "poetic".. It seems more like they would want to.. stand out. I suppose it makes sense, if you think about the countries..

[ HONORIFICS ARE OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE! ]

Yes, Western names are definitely interesting! I just think many of them are too rough sounding. Their naming scheme may very well be meant to just stand out... but I don't think it works very well. There's only twenty-six letters.

[ Switching languages to prove a point. That point is up for debate. ]

English is very simplistic. The only thing really going for it is how specific it is. We don't have words to differentiate a lot of things. For example, as you know, the kanji for mouse and rat is exactly the same. So is the kanji for sheep and goat.

I have only recently learned English, so I can definitely agree it is a bit challenging.

...Do you think Danish will be difficult to learn? [Denmark tricked him sob]

Oh! I'm sorry. I didn't realize. You certainly speak it well enough, though.

You spoke with Denmark, didn't you. [ Not a question but a statement. ] I suggest you ignore him if you don't want a headache, especially after his declarations of owning Discedo.
