As many of you know, I tend to lead a life that doesn't have a lot of activity. There's work and some hobbies and the occasional outing with friends, but I typically have plenty of downtime. So much so that I anticipated that during my mom's 5 weeks in Brazil having a number of evenings and weekends filled with vegging out and watching tons of movies. While I've crammed many a Netflix into my weeks, I've hardly vegged. Especially in the past two weeks.
Every weekend I've either been cleaning out some area of the house, volunteering or ::gasp:: being social. WTF? says my body. It wants to be lazy!!
Virtually every night of the past week has revolved around preparations for today's bachelorette party. Last night being the most tiring. From 6 to 11 pm, my kitchen turned into a penis factory as I baked cupcakes. With one pan that makes six cupcakes (yes, the purchase of one pan was not thought through), which takes a half hour to bake I went nutty (no pun intended).
My dad and I had an amusing exchange. He got home with Chinese food for dinner and observed me pouring batter into the pan.
Dad: Where did you get the pan?
Me: Uhhh.....the store down the street.
Dad (very seriously): I didn't think they'd let you in...I thought you had to be 21.
Me: ::blank stare and stopped what I was doing mid-pour::
Dad: Oh wait. You're 24. Never mind.
Me: Way to be on top of things Dad.
Dad: Freudian slip, Jess...Freudian slip.
My poor Dad. Unless he repressed my baking (unlikely has he was in the same room for all of the baking), I think he had visions of his little girl in an adult store.
I'm hoping to veg out next weekend. Tomorrow will be spent cleaning for the arrival of Mom, who is quick to criticize anything we didn't clean. Wednesday I'll probably be seeing HP5 with Eddie and Natalie (the soon to be newlyweds) amongst others. Next Saturday Natalie, Meghan, and I shall be having a girls night while the guys are off at the bachelor party. The week after, HP7 arrives! weeeeeeee! Natalie reserved her copy at the same Borders, so I think we'll be going together to get it. And that weekend will be nothing but HP7 reading. The week after is the week before the wedding and then it's THE WEDDING! Holy crap. This has been nine years in the making. YAY! Can't wait.
Well, I'm off. Still need to frost the cupcakes.
good days,
