Life feels pretty good right now. I'm somewhat swamped at work, but its mostly a good thing. This past week I went with
alexi228 to see Senator Barbara Boxer speak on her new novel, A Time to Run. It seems like a good book. I got it and had it signed. Yesterday afternoon I finished my Christmas shopping and picked up my first Christmast gift of the year at the post office. My aunt from Brazil sent me 2 pairs of bikinis and some soaps. One of the bikinis doesn't really fit, but it may be due to me still being a bit swollen. The second one, however, did. Both are gorgeous! The one that fits is all black. The other has an aqua bottom and the top is white with pretty aqua flowers on it. YAY! However, to truly look good in them, I'll have to start exercising regularly. I'm going to be sure to ask the doc at my next appointment if I'm good to start exercising vigrously.
Last night I went to my first white elephant party at
slow_snail's. I walked away a Halloween superhero with a Halloween headband and slap bracelets. Twas much fun. This morning
alexi228 and I went to Books and Books to attend a reading by Gloria Estefan of her new children's book. We both got the book and had it signed. I got an extra copy of the book and had it signed for
The Samantha Foundation's upcoming silent auction. That gave me a great opportunity to tell Gloria (we're on a first name basis now) about the organization and I gave her a packet of info fabulously prepared by
pwiggily. She listened to what I had to say and seemed genuinely interested. I hope that she does something like donate lots of money to the foundation because they need it! I'm a fan of Gloria Estefan not just because I like her music, but she also just seems like such a down to earth, "real" person. Plus, I think that she showed a tremendous amount of courage back with her accident in the early 90s. I have a great deal of respect for people like her and how much she overcame to get back on her feet.
And that brings me to now. Now I'm very sleepy with lots to do around here. All is well with the world.
