Louder than A Bomb

I just sent in my hosting availability and if everything is cool I'll be hosting approximately a fuck-load of bouts. I do a little more each year and now with more bouts, a longer college slam, and indy finals I should be sick of youth poets for awhile.

This year they are having more featured adult poets as part of the festival. This includes Buddy Wakefield, Idris Goodwin, Rachel McKibbens, and Roger Bonair Agard (though he's been in chicago for awhile now).

If someone gave me a few thousand dollars and asked me to hand pick poets to perform at a festival, those 4 are pretty much at the top of my list. Especially for performing in front of a bunch of eager kids. I think they are phenomenal writers and performers and I don't find any of them particularly "slammy".

If you don't know Idris, you should. Not many folks know him because he never slammed. He featured a lot, read on Open Mics but never slammed. Folks are finding out about him a little more because Write Bloody put out his book.

I can confidently say that he is the best feature I've ever seen. Funny, engaging, political in a personal/non-preachy way, has legit rap skills, and has a great DMX story.

so yeah, I think this LTAB should be pretty rad.
