Ron Claiborne

Emmys ... judging by the pic on the left I assume these are Charlie Gibson's

And before that was our seminar with Paul Carter Harrison his ideas on the classification of black theatre were really interesting. Plus we read a scene from his play "Great Macdaddy" had us all in stitches

Afterwards I headed to the Affinia hotel on 31st and 7th for this company event my friend Lynne  invited me to last night over fb. I had no idea what I was in for. She told me she worked for some health company and that’s all I remember. So I get there and it’s a line of kids my age in suits and business attire. We wait on that line in the heat for an hour and I remember thinking to myself “this all seems kinda sketchy” and “what the fuck am I doing here?”  I should’ve left then. I remember talking to this guy only a few years older than me and he says he’s been to stuff like this … a lot of the time it’s a scam. Hmmmm. Well then we all get in and I dunno shit just didn’t feel right.
The company is called YorHealth and they sell a bunch of products that are supposed to promote good digestion and therefore cure whatever ails you. I met up with Lynne and she introduced me to a bunch of people. Ok so I am a huge True Blood fan and the whole time I was there I felt like Sookie when she’s in the fellowship of the sun and is all “ I don’t trust any of you one bit but I’ll put a smile on my face to hide that” .  Lynne kept telling me about “seeing the vision” and how everyone is positive because the only people who are negative are those who haven’t tried the products and if you don’t try the products then don’t bother trying to sell them. okaaaay
So the presentation starts and this Asian guy who was very personable I guess comes out. Turns out he’s a big shot director in this and makes a bunch of money “selling” these YorHealth products. Well 2 hours [which included 4 people who I presumed were actors getting up and telling everyone how ~*wonderful*~ the YorHealth products were] later here is what I figured
  • This is a pyramid scheme because the only way you actually make money is by recruiting others to sell under you … which is what my friend wanted me to do  [like right after everything the forms ready and was putting my name down]
  • These people are kinda brainwashedUnless they plan on bugging every single on of their friends to come up with around $500 to join … there is no real way to make money.
  • Afterwards we went to talk that guy [Not sure why because towards the end of it I was telepathically telling this guy to SHUT THE FUCK UP I WANNA GO HOME] and my friend asks on my behalf about my apprehension to make a $500 investment and he said “ don’t think of it as that because YOU are going to be using the products and yadda”  oh and “If Apple was going to give you money for referring people to their products you woulnt think of it as an investment”
  • Now I feel really bad because all the people there seem to really believe they can make $300+/week doing nothing. That guy talked a lot about not having to go to school and tried to make it seem as if this was actually a business when its bull. They seemed to play into people’s fears of not living up to their parents’ expectations and of course the economy.
When I finally got out of there it was 10:22 … I’d gotten there at 6. Not gonna lie though for a while there I thought I’d try it

this is my ridiculous life, asp, photos
