very very shortly i will be heading off to the gold coast for a child free girls only weekend and i cannot wait! of course my anxiety levels are off the planet and i'm having insomnia, excema, IBS etc etc etc but that will all soon stop once i'm enjoying myself :)
then a few days later we are going camping - first at jervis bay and then just south of batemen's bay. today we were able to go and buy a few more of our needed items for camping (we got our tax return, yay!) - we got an
Evakool ice box, a kitchen set up (with bench tops for preparation and our cookstove, a cupboard underneath and an extra bench on either side), some
sleeping bags for the kids and a
self-inflating pillow for each of us.
because we are going for most of a week we needed the icebox rather than just an esky (and we couldn't afford a fridge / freezer). but that meant trouble as we only just fit all our stuff in the car as it is! we had to give up the portacot for rory (she hasn't been in a cot at home for ages, 9 months maybe, but it made me more comfortable while camping knowing she was in teh cot, plus there was the issue of sharing beds! until now we have each shared a queen size mattress & covers with one of the older two). then was the issue of our bedding - geoff and i do have sleeping bags which pack down quite small but we were taking another layer as well as all rory's bedding and all th epillows off our beds. hence the sleeping bags and pillows (plus we thought there might be less fights if the kids all had a sleeping bag)
we will probably need to work out a new way to pack clothes - in the past we have either taken them in those plastic crates, or in the kids wheel along suitcases, but they aren't spacesaving in the car in any shape or form. i'm a bit nervous about just packing in bags because of spiders etc (i know i'm probably being overly paranoid!) so i'm not sure what we'll do. luckily for once we will have a whole day child free to get the car packed and organised :D
as well as these things we also got ourselves a cast iron frypan and some
egg holders LOL they will keep our eggs safe and sound ;)
i'm
planning on cooking most of our food, freezing it in blocks and it should last for a while in the new icebox :)
