Happy 2006 people! I hope that everyone had a relaxing Christmas and a safe New Year. Damn… it’s been awhile since I last composed an entry, but I’ve been extremely busy. Although this past December was horrifically hectic for me, it has truly been a rewarding experience. I’ll break it down for you:
I applied for that supervisor position at my terminal that I thought I wasn’t eligible for due to that recent altercation that I was involved in, but I went for it anyway. I was selected from a party of 30 plus applicants, called in for an interview and then asked back for a second interview [I was one of the last remaining three applicants for the job].
During the selection process for the said supervisor position, I received an email on a Monday in regards to another job that I had applied for internally, and to my fucking surprise, the testing and interview session was to be held in Albany, NY on that Wednesday at 8:00 AM sharp [very short notice = big fucking show].My boss granted me a day off for that Wednesday; I booked a hotel room online and drove up to Albany that Tuesday night after I clocked out of work at 11 PM. I didn’t hit the NY Thruway until 12 AM because I decided to help a lost driver get to his destination [yeah… nice guys finish last].I arrived at the hotel at 2:30 AM and I didn’t get to fall asleep until 4:00 AM [anxiety is a bitch]. I received a shitty three hours of sleep and I arrived at the testing and interview session 5 minutes late [I couldn’t find the damn location].Completed the math section - passed [ridiculously hard]Completed the reading section - passed [ridiculously easy]Completed the interview [kicked ass] and drove back home.Of the 80 applicants trying for the Albany position, only 30 individuals made it to the actual testing and interview session [probably due to the short notice]. There were 8 positions open for the Albany job. They chose 6… I was one of them [crowd goes wild]! Because I was selected to join the Albany team, I informed my boss to exclude me from the supervisor selection pool at my terminal [Rumor has it that I was chosen for the supervisor position - oh well].
I have yet to pass a series of tests, so my position at Albany is not official yet [typing test - strength test - physical test]. I drove up to Albany today and completed the typing test. I needed to type 25 CWPM... I scored 60 CWPM [piece of cake]. I was also given a tour of the terminal and I found the environment very immaculate and professional [moving up to bigger and better things never looked so good]. One test down, two to go… pray for me people.
