Okay, there has to be some voodoo going on here. I've never seen water boil as fast as I just did. Recently purchased a
new induction oven and finished installing it about an hour ago.
The water in that pot came to a raging boil in less than a minute!
For some reason, the 240V/50A wires coming from the main panel to the stove outlet were not installed correctly. The outlet box was exposed and inside the box, the ground wire wasn't connected to anything.
Upgraded the outlet from a older style ungrounded socket to a safer grounded one while I was at it. Also installed one of those anti-tip brackets which from what I understand is now required by code when you install new ovens.
Guess my next to-do item for the house in the coming weeks will be to check the rest of the eletrical wiring and to upgrade my regular circuit breakers to
arc-fault breakers. Oh, the joys of home ownership! Moreso since the previous person that lived in this house did quite a bit of questionable house work.
