Chapter 3: My Hectic Friends
“Ryu-chan, come on faster! We need to hurry,” whispered Chinen as he quickly hided behind the bushes.
“Oh gosh, Chii. Why the hell do I have to hide with you as well?!” complained Ryutaro.
“Because if we do not hide, those nasty fans gonna rape us!” exclaimed Chinen.
“Your fans, not mine! I don’t even have any!” complained Ryutaro even more.
Chinen Yuri, one of Ryutaro’s classmates and a best friend of his. Chinen was pretty small. Even among the whole first year students of their junior high, Chinen was considered as small. They were all pretty small when they entered, but it seemed that Chinen’s height growth was a little bit behind in term of speed.
Despite his small figure, Chinen was the ace of his school gymnastic team. Tons of seniors were kind of after him. Cute little thing, that was how they usually called him. Chinen totally had no problem about the whole idea of having lots of fans, but sometimes it just limited his move around the school.
“Oi~..”
The two small figures almost jumped in surprised when someone whispered to them softly from behind. There, standing a boy with a big grin on his face. Chinen smiled, while Ryutaro seemed like he wasn’t really amused. “Yama-chan!” giggled Chinen as he hugged the new comer.
“Morning, Yamada,” greeted Ryutaro.
“Morning!! Hiding here like usually, is it?! You guys really need to find a new place to hide. People will discover it sooner or later,” Yamada just grinned.
“But Yama-chan~.. You know how scary our senpais can be when they are chasing after me. For the time being, this place is the safest,” whined Chinen.
Yamada Ryosuke, a schoolmate. Yamada wasn’t their classmate, but his class was just next to theirs. Yeah, the same class where the Okamoto Keito that Hikaru was talking about was in. Previously, Chinen and Yamada were attending the same primary school, making the two of them friends from long ago.
The newcomer was just as popular as Chinen. Yamada kind of had an attractive face. People often said that he would be the next biggest thing at school. Well, very true indeed, Ryutaro seemed to be surrounded by popular student. Although Ryutaro himself was kind of just, well, ordinary.
After several times hiding here and there, and covering their faces with their bags, the three of them then managed to reach their classes. Yamada just waved his hand as he entered his class to the two other boys. “Maybe I shall just walk alone to school starting tomorrow,” groaned Ryutaro at himself.
Just when Ryutaro was about to sit on his desk, taking a rest from his hectic morning, he spotted a figure sitting on his desk with head rested on the table. Nakajima Yuto, the only guy that would ever dare to sit on his desk without permission. This guy was also previously Chinen’s schoolmate during their primary school years.
“Seriously, can I have a normal morning or at least be less obvious so no one have to interact with me at all?! And Yuto. Get out of my desk. Go and sleep in your own desk,” complained Ryutaro as he kicked Yuto off his desk.
“Gosh, Ryutaro. Stop being so grumply. You’ll look like an old man soon enough,” replied Yuto, sleepily.
Yuto stood up, only to then drag a chair to the side of the desk and once again rested his head on the table. Yuto was a classmate of Ryutaro. He was usually lively and bubbly. People around him loved his companion. Despite his friendliness, he never considered himself as popular.
He had a lot of friends, but yet no one really kind of obsessed over him like some to Chinen or Yamada. Yuto was everyone’s-bubbly-friend kind of person. Yet, he was a little bit bad with mornings. “Why are you so grumpy, Ryutaro? Did Chinen force you to hide with him again?” asked Yuto.
“Why don’t you ask him yourself?” replied Ryutaro with eyes glaring at Chinen who was sitting just right beside him.
“Hahaha. Ryu-chan was already in a bad mood when I met him on my way here. So, I’m pretty sure that something else made him grumpy,” Chinen just giggled.
“Well, Ryutaro is always grumpy anyway. It’s not something new,” said Yuto, half laughing.
“Excuse me?!?! I wasn’t grumpy until I found you sleeping on my desk, again! Just like every other morning I have,” he replied.
Yuto just chuckled, but before he could say anything any further, the bell rang. He just lazily dragged his chair back to his desk and sat there quietly, or sleepily to be exact. Ryutaro himself sighed in relief, loving the fact that finally he could have some peace. While Chinen on the other hand just sat there with a huge grin on his smile.
Typical day of his school, really. Nothing really special for a Morimoto Ryutaro that was happened to be adopted by a Morimoto who had a brother named Takaki Yuya. And this Takaki Yuya happened to be gay and had a partner named Arioka Daiki. At the end, somewhere along the line, the real ‘parents’ that were interested in adopting him was this gay couple.
So yeah, it was basically how his morning always started. Her ‘mom’ also known as Daiki would be shouting around his apartment to wake Takaki, his ‘dad’, and he every single morning. Hikaru would always come right after he finished his breakfast, and the two of them would go to school together. Occasionally, he would meet Yabu and Inoo on their way there and often ended up going to school with Chinen if they met.
Nothing really special, but the fact that he was surrounded by people who were seemed to be really ‘happening’. Ryutaro didn’t really like to stand out. He preferred to be just a normal boy that was trying his best in the beginning of his teenage life. So far, there were no significant difference from him compare when he was still in primary school that he could really proud of. Other than the fact that his voice had changed, and Daiki seemed to be freaked out a lot about this when it happened.
“A band would be awesome you know! Everyone is doing it! But seriously, they aren’t really good at it,” exclaimed Yuto on their break time.
The three classmates, Yuto, Chinen, and Ryutaro were sitting at their school canteen while discussing what to do for the rest of the week. It wasn’t only them, Yamada and Keito were also there. Keito seemed to be dragged along by Yamada to sit with the other three.
“But none of us can really play musical instruments,” sighed Ryutaro. He wasn’t really amused with Yuto’s excitement.
“Wroooonnnnngggg!!!!! No one knows it, but I play drum! And Yama-chan told me that Keito is really good at playing guitar,” the tallest guy among them just grinned with victory.
Ryutaro turned his head to the other two with a questioning face. He raised an eyebrow at Yamada, trying to get an answer from him. “Please tell me that Yuto is lying. Just so that I can whack him right now,” he said at the end.
“Well, he really does play drum and Keito is indeed really good at guitar. He’s teaching me right now. Right, Keito?” said Yamada.
Shifting his face to Keito, Ryutaro could only sigh when he saw the taller guy nodded in agreement with Yamada. He wasn’t really into this, really. He played guitar, and no one needed to know that. Hikaru taught him how to on his free time. But still, Yuto’s excitement was often such a pain in the ass for Ryutaro.
“Why don’t the three of you just go ahead and form a band, while Chinen and I will cheer you guys up from the front row,” suggested Ryutaro sarcastically. From the corner of his eyes, he could see Chinen nodded.
“No no no no.. I’m going to need Chinen to be the singer. This little chibi here used to be in our school choir,” smirked Yuto.
“Fine. Then I’ll cheer you guys from the front row. Or maybe just from in front of the TV each time you guys perform. That also, will only happen if you guys debut,” Ryutaro still seemed not amused.
“Oh no baby! Our band wouldn’t be complete without a bassist. I play the drum, Keito and Yama-chan on guitar, Chinen as the vocalist; and you, have to learn how to play the bass,” Yuto leaned forward to Ryutaro, pinching the shorter boy’s nose.
“Haaa?! Me?! Why?! I don’t even play any instrument!” complained Ryutaro.
“Oh really?! So why I overheard Yaotome-senpai talking to Yabu-senpai about you always forget to give his guitar pick back each time you guys do some jamming in your free time?” Yuto pierced one eye at Ryutaro.
“Huaa!! Ryu-chan plays guitar?!?! Kakkoiii!” praised Chinen.
“You do jamming?” Keito finally spoke up, somehow felt as if he was really in the group this time.
“Oh geez. I shall kick his ass when I see him. Hikaru really needed to shut his mouth up sometimes,” groaned Ryutaro in annoyance.
Or so he said. Still, despite his do-what-ever-you-wanna-do-and-i-do-not-care attitude, Ryutaro was the type of boy who cherished friendship more than anything. He wasn’t really interested in love just yet, and his friends would be the only thing that coloured his hectic life up.
At the end of the day, Ryutaro was kind of dragging Hikaru to his apartment. Not to kick his ass, but to ask the older boy to teach him how to play bass. His parents weren’t back from their jobs just yet, just perfect for him to have a practice.
“Why suddenly you want to learn how to play this?” asked Hikaru while teaching Ryutaro.
“Seriously, don’t ask.”
“Oh come on! I basically know everything about you. Including how you look like naked! Well, although that would be when you were still a little cute boy. Arioka-kun often invited me to play around with you. And don’t you remember that we used to take shower together?! Well, I wouldn’t want to look at you naked now, though. That would be gross,” said Hikaru bluntly.
“I wouldn’t want to as well,” he replied, with face looked kind of disgusted with what Hikaru just said.
“So?”
“So what?!”
“Why are you learning this now?!” asked Hikaru as he pointed to the bass that was on his hand.
“Well, Yuto wanted to form a band. He kind of needs a bassist. And I’m doing this unwillingly,” he replied at the end.
“You always claim yourself doing something unwillingly,” shrugged Hikaru.
“Oh shut up..”

Finally I updated this!! Yay! I'm so proud of myself!! *gets kicked*. Ehm, this chapter is just okay for me. At least finally all characters are out (as in the HSJ members). I'll start to build up the story from here. Pretty much had them all planned out, I just need to drag my lazy ass to write them down.
This was meant to be a very short multi-chapter, but after planned out the whole story, somehow along the line it probably will have ten chapters in total. Gahh~. That will be longer than my usual multi-chaps that usually only have about eight chapters.
Okay. Enough rambling. I hope you like it. And comments are so much love, they always make me happy and encourage me to update faster. ^__^
