5th March 2010
“What’s that?” Yabu tilted his head, staring curiously at a nice small envelope that Takaki was holding.
“I don’t know. Found this on my jacket’s pocket,” he replied.
It was weird, he thought. If anyone had the access to actually put that envelope to his jacket’s pocket, it would either be his family, or someone from BEST. Why would someone give him a card anyway? What was so special about 5th of March?
“Open it, open it!” Yabu nudged Takaki’s arm.
Scowling, Takaki did as he was told. Would Yabu stop nudging him already? He looked more excited about the envelope than Takaki - which was actually kind of annoying.
There was a card inside. Really small, only about a size of a name card; and it was amazingly… plain. The cards was black, and there was something written in silver ink right in the middle of it.
“When you turned 14, I thought your eyes were kind of cute. They still are, by the way,” Takaki read out the card.
The two oldest members of BEST exchanged looks at each other, wondering what the card was all about.

Takaki pierced his eyes intensely as he stared at yet another black card. This time he found it on his wallet, just right between his bank notes. Who the heck is this cards' sender anyway? Just how on earth he or she or it or whichever managed to put it on his wallet?
“Another card?” Yabu blinked as he took off the hideously bright red jacket costume he was wearing.
“Yeah.”
“What did it say this time?”
Sighing, he quickly flipped the card open and read through yet again silver inked writing it has. “It says, ‘When you were 16, I started to realise that my prettiness was in stake. But thank god you turned out all manly (although quite girly at times)’.”
The writing was a little bit longer than the previous card, and it was getting a lot more random than before.
“Dude, that card creeps me out,” Yabu commented.

19th March 2010
“Faster!!!”
“I’m trying!!”
“Come on, Takaki! Find the card!!” Yabu exclaimed as he clapped his hands in excitement, pretty much couldn’t wait what the card would tell Takaki this week.
The latter, on the other hand, was trying his best to find that card. It was Friday, and just like the past two Fridays he had, he was expecting yet another mysterious black card with silver inked writing in it.
After a long hour of shuffling, scrambling, throwing things around, and dragging Yabu to help him with it, Takaki was left empty handed. Nothing. He found nothing. It was just impossible, he thought. Did the weird sender forget that it was already Friday and that it was already time for him to give Takaki his little sarcastic black card?
“What the fuck did you guys just do to our dressing room?!” a familiar squeaking voice was heard from the door.
“Oh, hi Dai-chan. We’re trying to find Takaki’s card,” Yabu greeted him.
“What card?”
“A black small card. Usually in a peach envelope,” he answered, scotching down as he laid an ear on the floor to take a peek on underneath the couch.
“You mean this card?! I found it on the floor earlier.”
Takaki and Yabu dramatically stopped whatever they were doing and literally rushed off to Daiki. The younger guy was holding a very familiar looking envelop, which was soon gone from his hand - being taken away by Takaki as Yabu followed the former excitingly.
“It says…”
“It says?”
“Nothing. It’s empty,” Takaki frowned, flipping the card over and over again just to make sure that he wasn’t delusional.

26th March 2010
He was wasted, he thought. Well, almost. He just had his first legal can of beer (not that he hadn’t drank any before) after a long hours of karaoke marathon and silly card games with the rest of BEST. It was 3am.
His room itself looked like a pig cage with the empty cans of cokes and beer, as well a couple potato chips crumb crusts all over his carpet. Hikaru was flat on his stomach -on Takaki’s bed, hugging a white pillow tight, with Inoo on his feet, curling like a stray cat in his messy hair and snoring. Yabu was practically drunk, laughing every now and then as he giggled occasionally. A mess really, there was no other world that could describe it.
“So…” Daiki spoke up, surprisingly looked as if he could pull a nighter with his sober face. “Here. The card for this week.”
It took Takaki a whole minute to understood what Daiki was saying. It took him another minute to notice a small black card - envelope-less - that Daiki was shoving to him. “It’s already Friday,” he added, pressing the card against Takaki’s cheek.
“You found it on the floor again?” he asked as he took the card from Daiki.
“Kind of.”
“For real, Dai-chan. Did you find it on the floor?”
“Just read it,” the younger guy chuckled lightly.
Takaki flipped the card over and saw a simple ‘Happy 20th Birthday’ on it. Turning his head to Daiki, Takaki frowned with eyes piercing at him. “So, what is this all about?” he asked at the end.
“Nothing. Just the four of us taking turns to give you a card for your birthday. That one is written by Yabu-kun, and he was supposed to give it to you exactly at 12am. But look at him,” Daiki diverted his eyes to Yabu. “All drunk and giggly. Happy in his little own world.”
“That’s just… weird! Could you guys come out with a better birthday gift?” he complained, unamused.
“It was Hikaru-kun’s idea! He got all excited about it! It’s not my fault,” Daiki scowled.
The birthday boy shifted closer to where Daiki sat and flicked the latter’s forehead with his fingers. “Now spill it out. Who wrote the first two?”
“That hurts!” Daiki retorted as he rubbed his foredhead. “Well, the first one was Hikaru-kun, and the second one was Inoo-chan.”
“And you gave me a blank card?! You also pretended that you found it on the floor! Oh my god! Mean!” he squeaked.
“I don’t know what to write! I mean, I had to write something about you when you were 18. That was just two years ago!” Daiki defended himself. “And gosh, don’t squeak! You sound like a girl when you do that!”
“Well, isn’t it supposed to be easy?! It’s just two years ago, so you should be able to remember lots of stuff!”
“That’s exactly the point! I can’t pick any! There are just too much to write about!”
“You can just write anything! Any random thing!” Takaki insisted.
“Like what?!”
“Like ‘When you were 18, you asked me out’ or something like that!”
Daiki blinked, staring at Takaki with face looked really unamused. Oh, Takaki knew that look. He knew that look really, really well. When Daiki looked at him the way he did at the moment, Takaki knew it by heart that the younger guy would answer him with some obvious fact that would make him think that he was an idiot.
“Then you would know that it was me, you moron! It’s supposed to be done anonymously!” the freshly graduated teenager raised his hand and whacked Takaki on the head.
And Takaki just went quiet because just like predicted, Daiki made him feel like an idiot. Yet, before he could continue sulking over that one piece of blank black card, he felt soft lips being pressed against his own. “Happy birthday~. That’s my bit of black card then,” Daiki said, in somewhat an awkwardly manner.
“Dai-chan!!!” Takaki squeaked as he wrapped his hands around their band’s little ‘penguin’. “Thank youuuuu!!”
“I told you not to squeak, didn’t I?!?! Ta-Takaki… go away! You stink like beers! OI!! I CAN’T BREATHE!!”
--------------------
Happy birthday Takaki!!!!!! Gosh you are already 20 years old. You make me feel really, really old right now. So, I expect some public smoking and drinking from now on? *gets whacked*
