The New Dirty Words

Sarah Palin and John McCain along with their campaigns have introduced and encouraged the country in establishing several new dirty little words.

Arab-  People are claiming that Senator Obama is an Arab as though this disqualifies him from being president.  Last time I checked American born Arabs have all the rights to run for president that ( Read more... )

Socialism as a personal philosophy is good, but as a government driven policy is bad.

People should help people, not governments take from people to help people.

And what evidence do you have to support this? What is the role of government but to help protect and serve people?

The govt. is there to protect our freedoms, not to make sure everyone is tucked in at night. It is the role of us citizens to serve each other.

And what if the citizens are failing to do their part? The government should just say... oh too bad... I guess you are poor so you deserve to die. We've also already established that you and I fundamentally disagree about what "our freedoms" are.

Don't hesitate to comment just because we disagree. In fact, I'm honestly disappointed when you don't comment. I've got to tell you I like a good debate. Also, I feel the same way when I read some of your posts. I think that we usually voice our opinions in a reasonable manner which makes it fun. There aren't too many people that you can have civil disagreements with ( ... )

I agree that no one wants to be poor. But I will say that many times the reason poor people are poor are because of poor decisions. Either deciding that school is not a priority, or getting married/pregnant before they were ready, or bad money management. I think a lot of this could be solved by better parenting, but that is an obtainable goal as riding a city of homeless people. I agree though that there are people that are just down on their luck, and I do think that we should help these people. But I still hesitate to tax the rich to help the poor ( ... )
