Goewin has been here long enough to realize that strange and nasty things have been going on around her, and though she's not seen or heard or been affected by any of it, she's starting to worry about people she hasn't seen for a while. That includes her brother

"My lady?" in his usual shy, hopeful way, half-smiling.

"Ah, Melou." She's a bit distracted, and doesn't at once look up from her awkward lefthanded scribbling. "Are you all right?"

"Ay, my lady. My brother and I are at work on our house."

[bravegoewin]

"Your house!"

She smiles a little back.

"Tell me!"

[lesser_son]

"He found it somewhat begun in the woods, and we're finishing it." Melou looks very excited. ""Tis hard work, but we make time daily for't."

[bravegoewin]

"You'll live there? You're at peace with him?"

[lesser_son]

He nods shyly. "And--and he said I might bring my lady as well."

[bravegoewin]

"Your lady!"

[lesser_son]

Melou flushes pale. "My lady Miranda."

[bravegoewin]

"Another of my father's court that I don't know here, or a lady of this house?"

[lesser_son]

"Of this place. I met her here, but she hath come from Italy."

[bravegoewin]

"And are you courting, or are you married?"

Melou tickles her to bits.

[lesser_son]

He flushes again. "Betrothed, my lady. She hath my ring."

[bravegoewin]

"My blessing on you both! Ah, sir, I should never have guessed there might come some good of living here."

[lesser_son]

Melou smiles pinkly. "Truly, my lady?"

[bravegoewin]

"You've never spoken to me of anything but battles!"
