Playing catch-up sucks

I’m sitting at my desk drinking my tea (with way too much honey in it) and I’m waiting for my i-pod to finish charging so I can put on some “wake up” music. Getting up this morning took a ton of effort since I’d pretty much made myself a blanket cocoon and was so drowsy/warm/comfortable the thought of venturing outside was totally not a pleasant one. But I got up and came to work anyway since it’s not like I’d end up doing anything constructive if a stayed home. Well that and…you know…I kind of need money.

I had a dream last night that I was back in high school and Zukkii, Hirata, and Araki were in my class. For some reason, we were all in a Japanese class together and our assignment was to write a short essay about Gekirangers. Idek. I remember saying something to the effect that it was going to be hard to write the kanji for the different schools and Araki chimes in (all really cute and genki) with “I don’t think it’ll really be that hard um so just do your best!”  For some reason, I respond with a snarky “Easy for you to say…you ARE Japanese.”  Apparently, I’m a jerk in my dream. Araki looks a little taken back at my comment, but then he just smirks and says “English isn’t exactly easy either…” and I end up feeling like an ass.  Hirata offers to help me with the essay and I offer Araki a cupcake as a peace offering (because pastry heals all wounds) and all ended up well.

I’m taking Spanish to fulfill a language requirement because I can’t use Japanese (long story) and I’ve forgotten pretty much everything. Not good. I had a conference call with the professor last week in which I a) asked her to repeat everything twice (since she spoke almost totally in Spanish and b) actually answered her in Japanese and then tried to play it off. Me = smart. This has the makings of disaster written all over it, but over the weekend I’m going to really take time and review. Hopefully, I’ll make some progress.
