New Star Wars Lego (feel free to ignore the geek)

Wow. I am drooling all over my laptop. I just got an email from Lego.com. The subject line is "Pre-order the Largest LEGO Set Ever with Free Shipping." The set? The Star Wars Millennium Falcon. They've already released two Falcon sets (I have one. I think. I might have both. I know I've got the first one. I'm confused on the second.) but nothing compared to this one.

This thing is 5,000 pieces. The biggest set I've got (Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer) is 3,000 pieces.

The finished set is a little bit smaller in terms of dimensions than the biggest one I've got now but the one I've got is hollow and rather unstable whereas this one will be much sturdier, thus the higher number of pieces. My biggest one is 37" long by 23" wide. This one is just under that at 33" long, 22" wide, and 8" tall (84cm long x 56cm wide x 21cm tall).

The best thing about this new set is that it is built completely to mini-figure scale. Usually the little people and the set are completely out of proportion to each other. For example, on the Hogwarts Express sets you have to work to get two mini-figs into one train compartment. If you can fit six people on the entire train, you're doing quite well. This new Falcon is supposedly built completely to scale so everyone will fit in the cockpit like they are supposed to do and look completely realistic. How cool is that!?!?!?!

I totally can't stop drooling over the pictures. I so want this thing. Lego is now taking pre-orders for shipping in October. Just in time for Christmas. Who wants to buy me a very nice Christmas present? It's only $500.00

If anyone is at all curious, the details on the set are here.

legos, s. w.
