The record high for Williamsburg on January 6 is 75. The predicted high for today was... 75. I can't find anything that will tell me the actual high reached today, but it wouldn't surprise me if we passed the record high. I took advantage of the warm weather and went hiking. I try to go a couple time a month but haven't for the past two months because of all my final papers. I had a blast today but now my legs are protesting since they haven't been worked like this lately.
One of my friends at school, Lucie, has gone home for Christmas but her boyfriend, Bill, who is also a good friend of mine, is still in town and he went hiking with me. It was lovely to have someone to talk to since I usually go by myself. We got back to my apartment at about 6:00 and discovered that the power was out. So we went to his and Lucie's place and played Scrabble (I won, hehehe), then we were off to the bookstore and ice cream parlor. We checked back at my place and still no power, which means probably no hot water and I could really use a shower after hiking all afternoon. Bill graciously offered to let me crash at his place and use his shower so here I be on his wireless. As far as I have been able to discern, a transformer blew and my apartment complex, along with everything else on that transformer which includes a fairly important traffic light, is expected to be without power all night, at least.
So if I fall even further behind on reading and reviewing fics at
rt_challenge and don't write anything new tomorrow, or basically seem to drop off the face of the earth until I get power and internet at my place, it won't be entirely my fault!
