Done this or similar ones before, but it has been a few years so why not give it another go?
1. Open up your music player. Hit shuffle.
2. Record the first few lines of the first 25 songs that come up. Skip instrumentals, but don't skip the embarrassing ones.
3. Make hapless LJ/DW denizens guess the song names and artists. Google is cheating. For musical songs, the name of the musical is acceptable in place of the artist.
4. Cross out the songs that have been guessed.
5. Pass it along.
Helpful hint: In my opinion, music was at its best in the 1960s. There is some more recent stuff on here, but generally, if you think '60s or things that sound like the '60s, you'll be in better shape.
Also, I mis-numbered and didn't realize so there's actually 26 of these with a 12a and 12b because I liked that better than deleting one once I'd got them all in.
1. Please don't mistake me or try to make me
The shadow of anybody else
I ain't the him or her you think I am
I'm just trying hard to be myself
2. I drink to remember, I smoke to forget
Some things to be proud of some stuff to regret
Run down some dark alleys in my own head
Something is changing, changing, changing
3. Most of my life I have spent alone
Most of this past year I been searchin' for my home
I met a girl she won't leave my mind alone
If she's listening I hope she understands my song
4. There ain't a lot that you can do in this town
You drive down to the lake and then you turn back around
You go to school and you learn to read and write
So you can walk into the county bank and sign away your life
5. Yeah, I've had my share of broken dreams
And more than a couple of falls
And in chasin' what I thought were moonbeams
I have run into a couple of walls
6. Well I tried to make it Sunday
But I got so damned depressed
That I set my sights on Monday
And I got myself undressed
I ain't ready for the altar
But I do agree there's times
When a woman sure can be a friend of mine
7. There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain

With another kind of man
All I've got is what I feel
And what I feel is what I am
9. Baby, although I chose this lonely life
It seems it's strangling me now
All the wild men, big cigars, gigantic cars
They're all laughing at me now
10. Baby I'm through runnin' it's true
I'd be a fool to try to escape you
Maybe I'm beat but oh what {song title deleted}
You keep your rights, I'll take your nights
No one can lose when we turn the lights out
11. Well, we're big rock singers, we got golden fingers
and we're loved everywhere we go (that sounds like us)
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
at ten thousand dollars a show (right)
12a. As the midnight moon was drifting through
The lazy sway of the trees
I saw the look in your eyes looking into mine
Seeing what you wanted to see
Darlin' don't say a word 'cos I already heard
What your body's saying to mine
12b. I like you
And I'd like you to like me to like you
But I don't need you
Don't need you to need me to like you
Because if you didn't like me
I would still like you, you see

Home is where I want to be.
I've been on the road so long my friend,
And if you came along
I know you couldn't disagree.
14. I know you're leaving
Leaving me behind
I'm seeing you, darling
For the very last time
Show a little tenderness
Mama, before you go
Please, let me feel
Your embrace once more
15. {Song title deleted}, stay away from me
{Song title deleted}, mama, let me be

I got more important things to do
Than spend my time growin' old with you

Wild geese over the water, heading north and home again.
Bringing a warm wind from the south, bringing the first taste of the spring.
His mother took him to her breast, and softly she did sing.
18. At the mirror you fix your hair and put your makeup on
You're insecure about what clothes to wear
I can't see nothing wrong
To me you look so beautiful when you can't make up your mind
It's half past eight, it's getting late
It's OK, take your time
19. I entered this scene through rejection and honesty
Nerds weren't mean, they were weird and that worked for me
After 10 years of teasing when social skills failed me
Dungeons & Dragons cured all that ailed me
20. Maybe you want to give me kisses sweet
Only for one night with no repeat
And maybe you'd go away and never call
And a taste of honey is worse than none at all

Mail by the door
What would anybody leave
So quickly for?
