30 Days of Fictional Females Meme - Day One: Favourite lead female character

Mar 01, 2013 11:23

March 8 is International Women's Day (and my birthday which has always delighted my little feminist heart). In the US, the month of March is designated National Women's History Month. In honor of these facts, I've decided to do the 30 Days of Fictional Females meme that I've seen here and there for ages. I won't promise one a day for the month, but ( Read more... )

I have similar troubles with this meme, only a handful of questions are easy but for most I find it hard to think of any character.
Well OK, I now have answers for the next few days I'm just to lazy to write them down

And Thursday is simply awesome :D

For me, the difficulty of answering many of the questions is the point of the meme. It shouldn't be difficult to think of millions of awesome female characters but it is because they just don't exist.

Share the Thursday love!

This is an awesome meme! But I agree with you that some questions are really hard to answer. I guess I have to think about them before deciding whether to participate...

Also I agree that Thursday Next is super amazing! :-D

We clearly need a Thursday fanclub.

You're absolutely right concerning the point of the meme. I might snag it after all. :-) (Have started working on a list of answers already...)

I think I might snag this meme! I've never done a 30 days meme before.

I love Laura Ingalls when I was a kid too. Those books were awesome! :)

Snag away! Month memes are fun as long as you don't beat yourself up for missing posting a day and either taking longer than 30 days to get to them all or posting more than one on some days when life inevitably gets in the way of posting.

Love Laura and all her crazy adventures. Have you seen any of the stuff on things like her adventures that were left out of the books, the controversy over how much of them she actually wrote, etc.

I've really only read the books, I haven't seen much extra stuff about Laura! That sounds very interesting though...

The rumors about the writing basically amount to whether it was her or her daughter for the most part. Her daughter was a writer and is known ot have helped some with the stories and there are competing theories over how much was the daughter helped clean things up versus how much did the daughter actually write it all based on stories her mother told her.

The missing adventures is much cooler, in my opinion. There is a few years gap in the books and one of the coolest things that happens in that gap is Pa tries running a hotel for a while and the girls all worked in it. There was also a boy born in this time who died when he was less than a year so not all good, but I'd have loved the hotel adventures. Someone else has written a novel telling these adventures based on letters and other records, but I've never read it. I should someday.
