Chick-fil-a.

My cousin is claiming he supports gay marriage but that the Chick-fil-a boycott is violating the free speech rights and religious freedom of the Chick-fil-a president. So I went off on him about free speech doesn't mean one person gets to say what he wants and no one else gets to react to it and he doesn't have to suffer the consequences of it and that economic boycotts are a long recognized form of free speech in this country.

Now he's backtracking saying that of course the boycott is free speech he just doesn't like it because it is causing traffic problems and getting in the way of him and his family, and he supports gay marriage but this boycott is just so unnecessary because really gay people have equal rights already in this country. So now I'm trying really hard not to say something about how generous he is to support the free speech rights and marriage rights of others just so long as it doesn't inconvenience him in the tiniest bit. And not to question his sanity for saying gay people have equal rights.

Or I suppose I could just copy and paste in this things someone else posted on twitter that I retweeted there:
Watching the "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" in 2012 makes me wonder if there was a "Woolworth Lunch Counter Appreciation Day" in 1960.

You should totally repost that.

of course the boycott is free speech he just doesn't like it because it is causing traffic problems and getting in the way of him and his family

How does that even make sense? It's not the boycotters who are forming lines around Chick-fil-a and interfering with traffic...In fact I've heard of a lot more people supporting Chick-fil-a than boycotting it...

Talk about your First World Problems, when you feel the need to defend a multi-million dollar fast food industry.

I'm not even going to try to understand his complaints. It really is such privileged nonsense.
