So, this was one of the worst weeks I've had here. I got sick and was miserable and everything just...slumped. You know, that reminder of even though I'm at college, making new friends, and having more control over my own life, some shit still follows me and life still happens. And sometimes you have to stay up late to finish stupid papers. ><
This weekend was pretty great, though. On Friday Nayt and I went to Japan Club (yeah, I'm in Japan Club ^^;; ) and watched a Japanese TV show and some anime. Afterwards, we started talking with some people in the hall and stood around for quite awhile until Travis was like, "Hey, guys? We're standing in a circle in a hall in Phelps. Let's go get coffee." So we moved to Cool Beans, which was closed, but we loitered on their furniture anyway and eventually moved to JP's downtown, accompanied by Blanco, the Mexican Balloon. A stranger popped Blanco and we yelled at him. He was cool about it, though. Then we posed inappropriately with a tableau of metal children saying the Pledge of Allegiance. It takes more creativity to work with them than the metal children at Navy Pier, but we were successful.
So, yeah, I made a couple new friends, yay! And Travis even hugged me and asked where I'd been his past three years at Hope. =) I also gave him a massage and he offered to make me a several course dinner, which I plan to take him up on. So maybe I'm manipulative and unfair and use people, but seriously? Free homemade dinner off campus? Hells yeah.
Yesterday, we went to Chicago for the World Music Festival. The museum was okay; I always like looking at the pretty wood pieces. Nayt and I got lost and then were wandering around Navy Pier, trying to find the concert sites, but epic failed. WE ran into a large group of other people who were like, "Have you found the music? We've been wandering around..." So, apparently everyone epic failed, except the concert coordinator...if his or her goal was to play hide and seek with the bands. Then we piled on the bus and moved to a park where we had African dinner catered. It was delicious. Matt and I danced to the live samba music and were ridiculously silly.
We got back to campus around midnight and I was SO TIRED. I was getting ready to fall into bed, when Matt shows up at my door like, "Hey! Everyone else is being boring! Hang out with me!" So we talked for awhile, then moved down to his room for Dexter (it has been so long since I saw the first episode!) and friendly spooning. Chris, Mike, and Garrit joined in the room, but didn't really get Dexter and didn't want to spoon. Tragic.
I left there at two, despite prompting to stay and spend the night. I ran into Rachelle who told me I had better "watch out" because Matt was a "little man-slut" who had made out with Rachel a lot and then stopped talking to her. I was like, "Umm...I'm not worried. This was just platonic, friendly spooning." Apparently this concept is foreign to a lot of people here. Once again: tragic.
Today I am wearing the magic plaid pants that (Adam) stole from the costume closet. Chris and Nayt both tried them on successfully. Chris was rather self conscious, but they made his legs look awesome and created the illusion that he has a butt. THEY ARE MAGICAL!
I'm coming home next weekend. =)
