The band concert was good. Hanging out with people at Big Boy afterwards was awesome. Drew's recital went well.
Today after we got home (my family, Dominique, and Alex all went to the Farmer's Market and Ahmo's after Drew's recital) I made Dominique do his homework. I was helping him with it...but then the next thing I knew I was waking up an hour later, neatly tucked into Dominique's bed with him still doing working diligently. He turns around and says, "You know I'm doing this for you." And I could tell in that instant without a shadow of a doubt that he loves me.
I'm dumb and sappy and silly, I know...but, yeah. I'm loved.
Yesterday I was over there while Keith was yelling at him over the phone for at least an hour and a half. That man was obviously inebriated and kept screaming the same things over and over. I wasn't on the phone and I heard every word he was so loud. "What's all this bullshit, dawg? Dawg, you can't fucking tell me that you're fucking just not doing your fucking work, dawg." Hour and a half. Ugh. I just wanted to scream, "You're not his father or his stepfather! You're just fucking his mom!" There was one brief funny section though where his approached changed to, "How do you feel about Liz? She's a straight A student right? You gonna let your woman out-do you like that? Do you think she'll love you less if you ask her for help? Do you expect her to take care of you? That's just not right, dawg. If you love her, you gotta take care of her..."
But, needless to say, Dominique was pretty frustrated. I did my best to be supportive and he got all stubborn about how he's not gonna do his work at all because the school year's pretty much over and it's not Keith's right to tell him what to do, etc, etc. That's part of why him doing his homework and carrying my sleepiness into bed meant a lot.

And now to finish a mother's day card and get to bed...
