It's a Hard-Knock Life

Today, after my orchestra class (so, around 9:00 a.m.), I have to hit the road to the VMEA convention over at The Homestead, a 5-star resort built in 1759. It's out in the middle of the Appallachians, nestled in a little valley, built atop natural hot springs. My mother won a free hotel stay for this convention at last year's, so I'll be slumming with them.

It's in the middle of nowhere, but it's REEEEALLY pretty. I get away from school and life for a few days, but I'm staying with the folks. There will be a LOT of long (bordering on tedious) sessions and concerts, but they are usually incredibly beneficial in the end. Unlike previous years (when we were in Norfolk), there's no awesome shopping nearby, the humidity levels will be lower than C'ville (which makes it harder for me to breathe easily), and food is a LOT more expensive. I'm just hoping I'm able to finally start relaxing. I already feel better since my show ended, but I know I'm still not at 100%.

We'll see. We'll wait a bit, and then we'll see. (That's a quote from "The Fantasticks", if you didn't know :-þ)

Okay. I HAVE to eat now and hit the road!!
