This entry magically restored itself when I went to make a new post, so I figured I'd post it.
What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Said "I love you." Moved below the Mason-Dixon line.
Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My resolution was to keep in touch with the people I care about. I have 3 pen pals and I send off a handful of letters every weekend to the various people whose addresses I possess, so I would say, yes. As for '09? I already have a list.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Anna had a beautiful baby girl.
Did anyone close to you die?
No.
What countries did you visit?
Nowhere this year. Unless you count "The South" as a different country, which you might.
What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Food Stamps!
What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 17th [graduation], May 18th [Lance], the day I accepted the job in NC, August 8th [finding my new home and roommate in Boone], October 19th [realizing I want to cover the environment]
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Letting myself be in love.
What was your biggest failure?
Leaving things I meant to do unfinished...
Did you suffer illness or injury?
I remember being really sick on my birthday.
What was the best thing you bought?
A Kryptonite bike lock.
Whose behavior merited celebration?
The staff of Appalachian Voices, for taking me in, and trying their damnedest to save the world each and every day. Hope, for showing me friendship right from the start, Lance for letting me go where I needed without letting go.
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The St. Paul police, when they arrested journalists during the RNC. Massey Energy and Governor Manchin, who are denying the wishes' of thousands of citizens, and refusing to allow a clean energy future for West Virginia in the name of corporate interests.
Where did most of your money go?
Probably food and rent.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The outcome of the presidential election. Having a sex life again.

Let's just say, I don't deal well with incompetency in leadership positions, or bureaucracy, which makes being in AmeriCorps fairly difficult.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I rolled around in bed and moaned a lot on account of the fever, but I also ate delicious Bello food with two great friends, and managed to make it to the Morris liquor store to use my newly acquired buying privileges on a handle of tequila.
What one thing would have made the year immeasurably more satisfying?
If only Appalachian Voices really was a choir.
