fandoms... what happened...

Anyway, so I've been reading/rereading some of the old Transformers fanfics from before I jumped to Supernatural and I can't believe how many abandon stories are out there now and there seems to be fewer fics available than there was about 2 years ago.
I've kind of noticed since right after Paul Walker died I went back over some FATF stories and found the same thing there. I know from being more deeply involved in the Supernatural fandom that a lot of the authors take down there work and rewrite it so it original so they can publish it, which is awesome but still doesn't help that the story I loved is gone forever as reading the rewrite just isn't the same. :(
